Appearance

Dai Mubai is a notably handsome young man, regarded as second only to Han Yu in appearance. He has golden hair at his temples and a confident, flirtatious manner that draws attention in Suotuo City. 32 67

  • Often carries himself with a smug smile or deliberately charming expression.
  • His appearance and status as a young Soul Master made him widely known as “Young Master Dai” in Suotuo City. 35 67
  • Resembles Emperor Dai Tianfeng enough for palace soldiers to recognize his royal lineage. 400

Personality

Dai Mubai is impulsive, indulgent, and highly driven by pride. Before becoming emperor, he repeatedly pursues women without regard for his engagement to Zhu Zhuqing, dismissing her confrontation and returning to the twin sisters rather than following her. 32 35

His insecurity becomes especially pronounced after his injuries. He reacts with anger toward Zhu Zhuqing, fears facing her, and becomes vulnerable to promises that his condition might be cured. 43 84 Though he desires the Star Luo throne intensely, he is initially politically dependent on Tang San and Yu Xiaogang, accepting the prospect of acting as their puppet emperor in exchange for their support. 370 375

After taking the throne, Dai Mubai becomes increasingly ruthless and authoritarian. He uses military misdirection, seeks scapegoats for political failures, and eventually purges ministers who oppose his war policy. 414 415 420

Abilities & Skills

White Tiger Martial Soul

Dai Mubai originally possesses the White Tiger, a top-tier beast Martial Soul suited to direct assault and physical combat. Its raw physical strength allows him to break Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass without using a soul skill. 39

  • Assault System Soul Master specialization. 39
  • Grants exceptional physical strength and durability.
  • His original Martial Soul can form a Martial Soul Fusion Skill with Zhu Zhuqing; the connection disappears after her Martial Soul evolves. 75

Devil Tiger King Martial Soul

Following his Rakshasa-related growth, Dai Mubai’s White Tiger mutates into the Devil Tiger King. The transformed Martial Soul retains the White Tiger’s general form but is suffused with a dark aura and is considered superior to the original White Tiger. 400

  • Displays eight soul rings upon confronting Dai Weisi. 400
  • Its dark aura causes others to suspect he underwent a divine trial or similar transformation. 400 405

White Tiger Body Protection Barrier

Dai Mubai’s first soul skill creates a white protective barrier around his body. It shatters Tang San’s binding Blue Silver Grass and lets Dai Mubai withstand Tang San’s attack without moving. 39

  • Defensive skill with strong protection against control-type attacks.
  • Used to counter Tang San’s Entanglement and direct strike. 39

White Tiger Vajra Transformation

An amplification-type soul skill that rapidly enlarges Dai Mubai’s muscles and significantly improves his overall attributes. 194

  • Used during his match against Tian Yue.
  • Enhances physical combat ability but does not overcome Tian Yue’s superior strength and tactics. 194

White Tiger Light Wave

Dai Mubai fires a milky-white sphere of light from his mouth as an offensive soul skill. 194

  • Ranged attack.
  • Tian Yue evades it using her movement technique. 194

White Tiger Meteor Shower

Dai Mubai’s fourth soul skill releases numerous fist-sized golden light spheres around him. 194

  • Area-of-effect attack.
  • Tian Yue’s Dragon Crocodile Trample destroys the attack outright. 194

History

Suotuo City and Zhu Zhuqing

In Suotuo City, Dai Mubai becomes known for openly pursuing women. He attempts to court Ye Lingling with Ma Hongjun’s assistance, but she rejects him immediately. Dai Mubai responds by calling her “interesting” and declaring that he will win her over. 32

Zhu Zhuqing later finds him with the twin sisters. She witnesses his intimate behavior, confronts him, and slaps him. Dai Mubai claims that only Zhu Zhuqing has ever held his heart, but he does not pursue her after she leaves; instead, he escorts the twins to a hotel. This encounter causes Zhu Zhuqing to abandon their relationship. 35 36

Shrek Academy

Dai Mubai defeats Tang San in a hotel dispute over a room. As a level 37 Soul Elder, he easily overpowers Tang San’s level 29 Blue Silver Grass and Tang Sect techniques, then directs Tang San toward Shrek Academy. 39

He later becomes Tang San’s classmate at Shrek Academy and is recognized as a leading member of the Shrek Team. 45 85 His conduct continues to alienate Zhu Zhuqing and Ye Lingling, while his conflict with Ning Rongrong contributes to tension among the students. 39 46 48

Injuries and Loss of Virility

After suffering a severe injury, Dai Mubai is treated by Master Wang at the cost of fifty thousand Gold Soul Coins. His cultivation foundation is saved, but an unknown force obstructs his intimate functions. 43

His condition causes several girlfriends to leave him and becomes a source of humiliation. He unsuccessfully attempts to test his recovery at a brothel, then returns to the academy dejected. 66 67 During the promotion matches, Tian Yue attacks his lower body and inflicts an even more severe injury, eliminating him from the match. 194

His injuries become central to his political prospects: the Clear Sky School requires him to recover before it will support his claim to the Star Luo throne. 375 After gaining power through his journey with Tang San, he claims to have fully recovered. 397

Conflict with Zhu Zhuqing

Dai Mubai repeatedly attempts to reclaim Zhu Zhuqing after she has moved on. During the Soul Master competition, he struggles to accept that her strength has surpassed his own. 183

He enters the Canaan camp to pressure her to return to him, eventually resorting to threats. Tian Yue intervenes to protect Zhu Zhuqing. 184 Dai Mubai later trespasses again to harass her and is forced by Han Yu’s soul power to kowtow one hundred times before being expelled. 185

Pursuit of the Throne

Dai Mubai ultimately aligns himself with Tang San and Yu Xiaogang’s plans to oppose Spirit Hall and seek the Star Luo throne. He promises to obey their arrangements and offers Tang San the position of foreign king and Yu Xiaogang the role of national advisor if he becomes emperor. 370

The Clear Sky School sets three conditions for supporting him:

  1. Recover from his injuries.
  2. Gain public recognition through the succession competition.
  3. Reach soul power level 71. 375

After completing Rakshasa God Trials with Tang San and reaching Soul Douluo, Dai Mubai returns to exploit Dai Weisi’s palace coup. 396 397 He rallies palace soldiers under the claim of rescuing Emperor Dai Tianfeng, captures Dai Weisi with Tang San and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School’s help, and takes the Star Luo throne. 400

Reign and War

As emperor, Dai Mubai relies heavily on Tang San’s advice for state affairs and military strategy. 400 401 He agrees to Tang Xiao’s plan for war and later redirects troops toward Tiger’s Roar Pass while publicly responding to the Nanyun City massacre. 412 414

His leadership becomes increasingly harsh as the war strains the empire. When ministers urge an end to the campaign because of grain shortages, he kills Duke Carter with his soul power and hands the remaining dissenters over for capture and sacrifice. 420 He also intends to act against the Zhu Family after it opposes his rule. 420

Death

Tang San’s Rakshasa Ninth Trial requires Dai Mubai’s blood as a sacrifice. 422 Tang San lures Dai Mubai to the Rakshasa Secret Realm by claiming that he will receive divine power. While Dai Mubai meditates before the Rakshasa God Statue, Tang San kills him from behind with the poisoned King of Hell Summons. Dai Mubai’s body is then devoured by the statue, completing the sacrifice. 429

  • Zhu Zhuqing — Former fiancée. Dai Mubai’s womanizing destroys her trust; she rejects his later efforts to reclaim or control her. 35 36 184
