Background / History

Sasuke is the surviving orphan of the Uchiha Clan. During the Land of Waves mission, Shida Chiba mocks the destruction of his clan, provoking Sasuke into awakening a one-tomoe Sharingan; Kakashi stops him from rushing into the fight recklessly. 231

After learning of Ye Liangnai’s reputation, Sasuke becomes convinced that training under him could allow him to defeat Itachi. He directly asks Ye about Itachi’s strength and whether he can surpass his brother, but is told that his talent is roughly comparable to Naruto’s—an assessment Sasuke refuses to accept. 233 234

Ye Liangnai later takes Sasuke to Kirigakure under an agreement with Itachi: Sasuke first trains with Natsume Yuki and others, then under Ye himself, in preparation for an eventual confrontation with Itachi. 287 288 The training produces rapid results, including Sasuke’s Mangekyō Sharingan, Void Break, Swift Release, and Susanoo. 289 292 293

Sasuke’s duel with Itachi ends with Itachi overwhelming and sealing his Sharingan before transferring his own Mangekyō Sharingan and memories to Sasuke. Itachi then collapses, while Sasuke is rendered unconscious by Ye Liangnai; the world initially believes Sasuke killed his brother. 295 296 297 Ye secretly revives Itachi, allowing the brothers to reunite later. 297 300 319

After obtaining the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, Sasuke returns to Konoha, renounces his identity as a Konoha ninja, and pursues Danzō for his role in the Uchiha Clan’s downfall. He defeats Danzō after exhausting Izanagi’s lives, overcoming Kotoamatsukami with Tsukuyomi, reclaiming Shisui’s Mangekyō Sharingan, and executing him. 301 317 318 319

Appearance

Sasuke is a young Uchiha shinobi identified by the clan crest on his clothing and the evolving scarlet Sharingan in his eyes. 231

  • His Sharingan first appears with one tomoe before progressing into Mangekyō and Eternal Mangekyō forms. 231 288 301
  • His Eternal Mangekyō emits a cold, sinister aura when activated. 301
  • He carries a long sword and has used a steel arm guard in close combat. 289 290

Personality

Sasuke is intensely proud, competitive, and unwilling to accept limitations placed on him. Ye Liangnai’s claim that his talent is comparable to Naruto’s deeply frustrates him, strengthening his determination to surpass both Naruto and Itachi. 234 235

His pursuit of revenge makes him cold and confrontational, particularly toward Konoha and Danzō. Even so, he retains a strong sense of loyalty toward people he considers comrades: he joins Naruto in protecting Hinata because he refuses to watch someone from the same village die without helping. 301 318 632

Sasuke’s relationship with Itachi gradually shifts from hatred and vengeance to mutual understanding. After meeting his revived brother again, he chooses to leave Konoha with him; later, he accepts his parents’ wish that the brothers live well and preserve the Uchiha bloodline. 319 352

Abilities & Skills

Sharingan and Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan

Sasuke’s Uchiha dōjutsu develops from a one-tomoe Sharingan into the Mangekyō and eventually Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.

  • Uses heightened perception to track opponents and react to high-speed attacks. 289 301
  • Can cast Tsukuyomi, trapping targets in an altered mental world; he tortures Danzō for forty-eight hours inside the illusion while only a moment passes outside. 306
  • Resists Danzō’s Kotoamatsukami by countering it with Tsukuyomi. 318 319
  • Prolonged Mangekyō use causes blurred vision, bleeding eyes, and severe strain. 294 496

Void Break

Void Break is Sasuke’s destructive ocular technique, learned through Ye Liangnai’s training.

  • Can break targets or effects unfavorable to Sasuke wherever his gaze reaches. 292
  • Breaks Itachi’s Tsukuyomi and damages Itachi’s Susanoo. 292 294
  • Helps Sasuke identify and deplete Danzō’s remaining Izanagi lives. 318
  • Its destructive power is sufficient to force Ye Liangnai to raise a defensive wall while observing Sasuke’s fight. 294

Susanoo

Sasuke manifests a purple Susanoo that progresses from an initial skeletal defense to an armored, weapon-bearing giant.

  • His third-stage form wields a bead in its left hand and a spear in its right. 293
  • Uses Susanoo to withstand Itachi’s attacks, fight Danzō, and protect himself from Baku’s suction and wind blades. 293 317
  • Covers his Susanoo’s spear with Amaterasu during the battle against the reanimated Uchiha Clan. 352
  • A mature Susanoo can defend against Ōtsutsuki Tetsushiki’s large-scale attack and fire Susanoo Arrows. 632

Lightning Release

Lightning Release is Sasuke’s principal offensive nature transformation.

  • Chidori — a lightning-coated thrust used in direct close combat. 289 318
  • Chidori Sharp Spear — a ranged lightning spear capable of piercing and paralyzing opponents. 289 306
  • Raging Thunder Tiger and Kirin — creates a massive lightning tiger and summons a devastating lightning strike from storm clouds. 291
  • Swift Release — accelerates all of Sasuke’s movements, allowing him to close vast distances almost instantly. 293 318

Fire Release and Amaterasu

Sasuke uses both conventional Fire Release and Mangekyō black flames.

  • Great Fireball Technique — launches a fireball more than ten meters wide. 317
  • Amaterasu — produces black flames that continue burning and can be applied through Susanoo. 317 352
  • Has used Amaterasu after gaining Itachi’s ocular power. 296 317

Swordsmanship and Shinobi Techniques

Sasuke combines swordsmanship with substitution, shuriken deflection, genjutsu, and lightning techniques.

  • Uses a sword to exploit substitutions and strike Itachi at close range. 289
  • Deflects Itachi’s shuriken volleys and uses a steel arm guard to block kunai. 289 290
  • Counters Danzō’s wind shuriken by striking through the central opening of one projectile and redirecting it into the others. 317

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Long sword — Sasuke’s primary melee weapon, used alongside Chidori and in Danzō’s execution. 289 319
  • Steel arm guard — used to block Itachi’s kunai during their duel. 290
  • Konohagakure forehead protector — discarded when Sasuke formally renounces his status as a Konoha ninja. 301

Relationships

  • Itachi Uchiha — Older brother, former target of Sasuke’s revenge, and later his ally. Itachi arranges Sasuke’s training, transfers his Mangekyō Sharingan and memories to him, and reunites with him after being revived. 287 295 319
  • Naruto Uzumaki — Former teammate and rival. Sasuke rejects Naruto’s attempts to stop him from leaving Konoha, but later fights beside him to protect Hinata. 301 629 632
  • Ye Liangnai — Mentor and powerful benefactor who takes Sasuke to Kirigakure, oversees his training, assesses his potential, and prevents interference in his battle with Danzō. 287 299 319
  • Shimura Danzō — Enemy tied to the Uchiha Clan’s destruction and desecration of its Sharingan. Sasuke hunts him down and kills him after a prolonged battle. 304 318 319
  • Fugaku Uchiha — Father. During Fugaku’s reanimation, Sasuke receives his father’s recognition and promise that he is a son to be proud of. 352
  • Mikoto Uchiha — Mother. Sasuke gains closure when she breaks free of the Impure World Reincarnation and ascends peacefully. 351 352
  • Natsume Yuki — One of Sasuke’s initial Kirigakure trainers before he begins training directly under Ye Liangnai. 287 288
