Ch. 205The Necessity of Entering the Royal Palace

Carlos explored Alubarna and decided he needed to enter the royal palace to learn the location of Pluton, while Shiryu helped Louis eliminate all eight families connected to his enemies. The capital remained on edge after the killings, and Carlos left the story determined to reach the palace and its tombs.

  • Cobra ordered an investigation into the murders of three noble families and summoned nobles to help protect the capital.
  • Shiryu agreed to follow Louis’s request to spare servants and kill only those who hindered their operation.
  • Shiryu and Louis killed members of five more noble and official families that afternoon, leaving Alubarna’s leaders and residents frightened.
  • After eliminating all eight families tied to Louis’s enemies, Shiryu and Louis spent the remaining days drinking and touring the city.
  • Carlos explored Alubarna for three days and approached the heavily guarded royal palace.
  • Carlos decided to enter the palace tombs and record the Poneglyph’s information about Pluton so Robin or Olvia could translate it.

Ch. 206Riding the Waves

Carlos infiltrated the Alabasta royal palace, photographed the Poneglyph in the royal tomb that recorded Pluton’s location, and then toured the palace. He ended the night at a royal hot spring, where he hypnotized four mature women and used an illusion to keep the others from hearing them.

  • Carlos evaded the palace guards, hypnotized a servant to learn where the royal tomb was, and entered it using Kamui.
  • Carlos found the Poneglyph recording Pluton’s location and photographed it with a Den Den Mushi.
  • Carlos toured the palace and wandered into a hot spring area in the royal harem.

After returning to sea, Carlos trained his crew and prepared to seek the Rumble-Rumble Fruit on Sky Island. On the way, he spotted Hawk Eyes Mihawk, and their gazes met across the water.

  • Carlos and the Divine Eye Pirates returned to the Nether Moon, where Louis began an intense training regimen and quickly earned the crew’s respect.
  • Carlos planned to find the Rumble-Rumble Fruit on Sky Island, taking it for himself if it was unclaimed or recruiting Enel if he had already eaten it.
  • Carlos trained his Pupil Power so he could move the Nether Moon into Kamui Space if the crew could not reach Sky Island safely by Knock Up Stream.
  • The Divine Eye Pirates sailed with few encounters until Carlos saw Hawk Eyes Mihawk traveling alone in a coffin boat.
  • Hawk Eyes Mihawk noticed Carlos watching him, and the two met each other’s gaze from a thousand meters away.

Ch. 208A Small Test of Skill

Carlos and Shiryu encountered Hawk Eyes Mihawk at sea and tested his swordsmanship. Carlos’s clash with Mihawk sent the coffin boat racing backward, leaving their fight unresolved.

  • Carlos spotted Mihawk’s boat and called Shiryu over to face the strong swordsman.
  • Mihawk attacked the Underworld Moon with a sword slash, and Shiryu intercepted it with Raiu, sending both boats back.
  • Carlos stopped Shiryu from continuing the fight at sea and decided to test Mihawk himself.
  • Mihawk struck at Carlos, who avoided the Sword Qi with Kamui and counterattacked from above.
  • Mihawk diverted Carlos’s kick through his blade and redirected its force, sending his coffin boat over a hundred meters backward.

Ch. 209Hawk Eyes Mihawk Comes Aboard

  • The next day, Hawk Eyes Mihawk asked to spar with Carlos, who accepted and ordered Susanna to find a suitable island.
  • Susanna found a small island, and Carlos and Hawk Eyes Mihawk went ashore while the crew watched from the ship.
  • Carlos activated his Rinnegan and used Banshō Ten'in to drag Mihawk toward him, but Mihawk planted Yoru in the ground and resisted.
  • Mihawk used the pull of Carlos’s gravity to draw Yoru free and slash out a powerful Sword Qi attack.
  • Carlos met the Sword Qi with both hands and absorbed it using Sealing Technique: Vampire Seal.

Ch. 211Clashing with Hawk Eyes Mihawk (Part Two)

Carlos used his abilities and close-combat techniques to seize the advantage over Hawk Eyes Mihawk, keeping him too close to use Yoru effectively. As the battle continued, the Divine Eye Pirates watched from the sea and discussed Mihawk’s strength and the challenge he posed to their swordsmen.

  • Hawk Eyes Mihawk charged Carlos with Yoru, but Carlos’s Shinra Tensei repelled the slash and sent Mihawk flying.
  • Carlos activated Bloodied Battle Body and rushed Mihawk, using his Haki, Dojutsu, and Body Techniques to deflect Yoru and expose an opening.
  • Carlos launched Hurricane Fist and kept Mihawk trapped in a relentless close-range barrage, preventing him from retreating to his sword’s optimal range.
  • The Divine Eye Pirates watched the fight as Martin, Shiryu, Riley, and Dolores discussed Carlos’s close combat, Mihawk’s Haki, and the swordsmen’s chances against him.

Ch. 212Clashing with Hawk Eyes Mihawk (Part 2)

Carlos forced Hawk Eyes Mihawk out of close combat, but Mihawk answered with a powerful sword technique that Carlos avoided using Kamui. The spar ended with Mihawk asking to stop, though he took Carlos’s joking suggestion about using his small knife seriously.

  • Hawk Eyes Mihawk let Carlos’s elbow strike blast him backward so he could escape the close-range assault, then unleashed a powerful slash to keep Carlos away.
  • Carlos used Shinra Tensei and Armament Haki to block the slash, and the clash sent both men flying apart with Carlos’s arms cut and Mihawk badly injured.
  • Hawk Eyes Mihawk attacked with a vast grass-green sword net, but Carlos used Kamui to let it pass through him and cut across the island.
  • Hawk Eyes Mihawk called off the spar, saying he had no answer for Carlos’s close-range attacks or strange ability.
  • Carlos joked that Mihawk’s small knife could help against close combat, and Mihawk seriously considered using it.

Ch. 213Untitled

Carlos ended his spar with Hawk Eyes Mihawk and ordered the Mingyue to sail toward Mock Town. After Noah told him that Olvia and Robin wanted to travel, Carlos agreed to let them go and offered them support; later, Mihawk volunteered to defeat three Sea Kings for the crew’s dinner.

  • Mihawk finished recovering as the Underworld Moon sailed to Jaya Island, and Carlos planned to consult Cricket about safely riding the Knock Up Stream to Sky Island.
  • The crew docked at Jaya Island and split up to explore Mock Town, agreeing to regroup after half a day.
  • Carlos wandered through Mock Town, entered a tavern, and noticed several people secretly watching him.
  • After Carlos left the tavern, he caught the leader of the group and learned they were novice Marine intelligence agents who had already reported the Divine Eye Pirates’ arrival.
  • Carlos expected the Marines to come after him but was not particularly concerned.

Ch. 215Garp Attacks

Sengoku learned that the Divine Eye Pirates were in Mock Town and sent Garp to confront them, naming Lucifer Carlos as the main target. Carlos remained unaware that Garp was on his way, while his use of Pupil Power led to the destruction of a Marine intelligence squad.

  • Carlos ordered the leader of a group to deal with their own people, then returned to a tavern.
  • Sengoku learned the Divine Eye Pirates were in Mock Town and chose Garp to pursue them because the other senior Marines were away.
  • Garp agreed to change course for Jaya Island after Sengoku warned him to focus on killing Lucifer Carlos.
  • Carlos saw a residence erupt in flames and realized the Marine intelligence squad had been eliminated by the Pupil Power he had left behind.
  • Carlos spent the morning pursuing two women with Beli and left them pleased with the money he gave them.

Ch. 216Cricket

  • Carlos and the Divine Eye Pirates crossed Jaya Island to find Cricket, telling the Monkey Mountain Alliance that he wanted information about Sky Island and the Golden City.
  • Cricket met Carlos and asked why he was certain Sky Island existed; Carlos said he had learned through a special channel that it lay ten thousand meters above Jaya Island.
  • Carlos asked Cricket for information about ancient Jaya and help finding a Knock Up Stream powerful enough to carry a ship to Sky Island.
  • Carlos promised to document Sky Island and share any Golden City wealth with Cricket, who agreed because he wanted to clear his ancestor Noland's name.
  • Carlos sent Riley to bring the Dark Moon while Cricket prepared tools for measurements, and Carlos brushed off his crewmates' questions about Sky Island.

Ch. 217Learning of It

The Divine Eye Pirates waited on Jaya Island for a Knock Up Stream while Garp arrived and began searching for them. Carlos sensed Marines nearby, discovered they were under Garp, and learned that Garp was at Mock Town's pier.

  • Hawk Eyes Mihawk defeated Shiryu in a fierce sparring match, leaving both of them badly injured.
  • Garp arrived at Mock Town with a small Marine force, attacked the Pirates there, and ordered his men to search Jaya Island for the Divine Eye Pirates.
  • As a storm gathered, Carlos felt uneasy during dinner and used his Byakugan to spot Marines moving through the darkness.
  • Carlos teleported to a Marine, hypnotized him, and learned that the Marines were searching for the Divine Eye Pirates under Garp's orders.
  • Carlos asked where Garp was, and the Marine said he was at Mock Town's pier.

Ch. 218Battle with Garp (Part 1)

Carlos sent the Divine Eye Pirates away so he could face Garp alone, then confronted the Marines searching Mock Town and drew Garp into battle. After testing Garp’s overwhelming strength, Carlos realized he could only defend himself for now, and the two prepared to continue fighting in the storm.

  • Carlos returned to the Underworld Moon and ordered Shiryu to gather the crew and move them away from the island while he stayed to face Garp.
  • Carlos left to intercept the Marines, killed a soldier to draw their attention, and then killed the six Marines who confronted him.
  • Garp arrived and struck at Carlos, who used Kamui to avoid taking the full force of the punch.
  • Carlos recognized that Garp’s strength far exceeded his own and that he could only protect himself against him for now.
  • Garp declared that Carlos would pay with his life for killing Marines, and Carlos accepted his challenge.

Ch. 219The Battle with Garp (Part 2)

Carlos used his Complete Susanoo to fight Garp, escalating the battle across Jaya Island as Garp pressed toward the Susanoo’s control room. Carlos detonated his Yasakani no Magatama and knocked Garp back to the ground, but the fight remained unresolved.

  • Carlos formed his third-stage Susanoo to withstand Garp’s Haki-coated punch and blocked Garp’s attacks with blue blades.
  • Carlos transformed his Susanoo into its complete form, towering over Jaya Island as Marines, pirates, and his allies watched.
  • Garp vowed to capture and kill Carlos, while Carlos taunted him from the Susanoo’s control room.
  • Carlos swung the Susanoo’s enormous tachi, forcing Garp to dodge as the slash carved a trench through the land and split the sea.
  • Carlos used Observation Haki to predict Garp’s route and launched four Yasakani no Magatama toward him.
  • Carlos detonated all four magatama, destroying Garp’s air punch, slowing his advance, and slapping him back to the ground.

Ch. 220Battle with Garp (Part 2)

Carlos fought Garp with Complete Body Susanoo until his Pupil Power and stamina ran low, then summoned two enormous meteors to force Garp to protect Jaya Island. Carlos escaped while Garp smashed both meteors into rubble, leaving their grudge unresolved.

  • Carlos used Complete Body Susanoo to battle Garp, who pierced Susanoo’s head with Meteor Fist, but Carlos repaired the damage with Pupil Power.
  • After half an hour of fighting, Carlos’s Pupil Power was more than half spent, while Garp remained strong and largely unfatigued.
  • Carlos transformed his eyes into Rinnegan and used Tengai Shinsei to summon two enormous meteors toward Jaya Island.
  • Carlos dismissed Susanoo and fled toward the shore, forcing Garp to abandon pursuit and defend the island.
  • Garp rose into the sky and smashed both meteors into rubble with Meteor Fist Rain, while rock fragments rained down across Jaya Island.

Ch. 221Prototype of the Shichibukai

After Carlos’s clash with Garp, Sengoku, Kong, and Tsuru discussed how to handle the powerful pirate and agreed to recommend recruiting him as an experiment in using pirates to control pirates. Carlos sailed near Jaya Island, unaware that the World Government might try to bring him into its service.

  • Garp destroyed the meteors’ remaining debris to protect Jaya Island, then decided to report Carlos’s strength to Marine leadership.
  • Carlos returned to the Underworld Moon to the crew’s admiration and ordered the ship to leave Jaya Island’s waters temporarily.
  • Sengoku reported Garp’s account of Carlos to Kong and Tsuru in Marineford.
  • Kong proposed that the World Government try to win Carlos over, citing his influence in the West Sea and the Marines’ need to reduce their enemies.
  • Tsuru and Sengoku agreed to submit a recommendation to recruit Carlos as a test of using pirates to control pirates.

Ch. 222Two Major Events

The Five Elders approved an effort to negotiate with Lucifer Carlos and bring his West Blue Mafia into the World Government’s influence. While Carlos’s crew searched Jaya Island for a Knock Up Stream, news broke that Dragon had defected from the Marines and founded the Revolutionary Army, shaking the World Government’s standing.

  • Noda Keiichi asked the Five Elders to discuss Kong’s report about Lucifer Carlos, and they weighed the benefits of recruiting him.
  • Ogata Kenichi argued that Carlos’s strength and influence could benefit the World Government, and the Five Elders approved joint efforts by the intelligence agencies and Marines to find the Divine Eye Pirates and negotiate.
  • Carlos and the Divine Eye Pirates returned to Jaya Island and searched for a Knock Up Stream while Hawk Eyes Mihawk stayed to see Sky Island.
  • After half a month without finding a suitable Knock Up Stream, Carlos and his crew read reports that Dragon had stolen Devil Fruits and secret documents before defecting from the Marines and founding the Revolutionary Army.
  • The Revolutionary Army’s revolutionary campaigns exposed abuses in several nations and badly damaged the World Government’s prestige.

Ch. 223Revolutionary Army

Carlos welcomed Dragon’s founding of the Revolutionary Army because it would distract the Marines and World Government while he prepared to leave for Sky Island. The Five Elders launched a sweeping crackdown, while Dragon led the Revolutionary Army in breaking through a kingdom’s defenses.

  • Carlos read reports of Dragon’s betrayal of the Marines and founding of the Revolutionary Army, and looked forward to the World Government being too busy to pursue him.
  • The Five Elders ordered a broad campaign against the Revolutionary Army and its ideology, including raising Dragon’s bounty, tightening control over the Marines and media, expanding intelligence operations, and increasing military spending.
  • In North Blue, the Revolutionary Army fought the forces of a corrupt kingdom and pressed toward its capital.
  • Dragon unleashed a storm, killed soldiers defending the city walls with driven rain, and shattered a section of wall with Dragon Claw Fist.
  • The Revolutionary Army roared and charged through the breach as Dragon smiled at its advance.

Ch. 224Sky Island

Carlos and the Divine Eye Pirates rode the Knock Up Stream from Jaya Island to Sky Island, landing the Mingyue on the White-White Sea. After setting sail across the unfamiliar sea, they encountered giant red octopuses and prepared to grill their tentacles.

  • Carlos and the Divine Eye Pirates boarded the Mingyue with Cricket and the Monkey Mountain Alliance following, then positioned themselves for the Knock Up Stream.
  • The Knock Up Stream erupted and blasted the Mingyue high into the sky, carrying it through the clouds and onto the White-White Sea.
  • After recovering from the journey, Carlos ordered the crew to raise the sails and sail in a random direction because they had no map of Sky Island.
  • Several giant red octopuses surrounded the Mingyue and attacked, so the Divine Eye Pirates struck back and kept the tentacles to grill.

Ch. 225Encounter, Contempt

While the Dark Moon’s crew held a grilled octopus feast on the White Sea, Carlos spotted an Angel Island patrol and confronted them. He incapacitated the soldiers, then demanded that their captain take the crew to meet Gan Fall, leaving the captain to save his men and await reinforcements.

  • Carlos and the crew grilled and ate spicy octopus aboard the Dark Moon as it drifted across the White Sea.
  • Carlos spotted ten Angel Island patrol soldiers approaching and ordered Riley to stop the ship.
  • The patrol captain accused the crew of entering illegally and demanded they accept punishment, but Carlos revealed they were Pirates who had not registered.
  • Carlos used Conqueror’s Haki to knock out every soldier except the captain, whose men began sinking into the White Sea.
  • Carlos told the captain to rescue his men and take the crew to meet Angel Island’s God, Gan Fall.

Ch. 226God Gan Fall?

Carlos and the Divine Eye Pirates subdued Sky Island’s Divine Soldiers without killing them and traveled to Angel Island to negotiate with Gan Fall. Gan Fall arrived with Pierre and several priests, surrounded by nearly a thousand Divine Soldiers, as the confrontation began.

  • Carlos stopped Shiryu from attacking the Divine Soldiers and told Dolores to leave the next group alive.
  • Dolores defeated about twenty Divine Soldiers with Cherry Blossom Gale Dance, leaving them wounded but alive.
  • The Divine Soldier Captain guided Carlos and his crew toward Angel Island, where Carlos ordered him to summon Gan Fall within fifteen minutes.
  • Gan Fall arrived on Pierre with several priests as Divine Soldiers gathered around the Mingyue.

Ch. 227Under Another's Roof

Carlos and the Divine Eye Pirates subdued Gan Fall and the Sky Island forces, then demanded cooperation in exchange for sparing the hostages and residents. Gan Fall accepted their terms, and Carlos ordered him to lead them to his palace as a king rather than a god.

  • Gan Fall called on Carlos to release his captured subordinates, but Carlos used Banshō Ten'in to seize Gan Fall by the throat.
  • Carlos ordered Shiryu, Martin, Dolores, and Riley to demonstrate their power, while Hawk Eyes Mihawk also unleashed a devastating slash that shook the Divine Soldiers’ morale.
  • Carlos told Gan Fall he wanted a map of nearby Sky Islands, the end of Gan Fall’s title as god, access to Apadoa to search for gold, and local specialties before the pirates departed.
  • Gan Fall judged the demands acceptable and agreed to cooperate.
  • Carlos released Gan Fall and ordered him to take the pirates to his palace, insisting that he call himself a king rather than a god.
