Carlos saved Olvia and Robin, consolidated the West Sea Mafia under the Black Alliance, and prepared to sail for the Grand Line. After fighting Shanks and awakening his Conqueror's Haki, he went to Impel Down to recruit Shiryu and found Kaido being tortured there.

• Carlos rescued Olvia and Robin from Ohara and sheltered them in the Lucifer Family mansion while offering to train them.
• Carlos organized the Black Alliance, became its Godfather, and secured the West Sea families' recognition of his authority.
• Carlos began assembling a crew and ordered the construction of the Nethermoon as his ship for the journey to the Grand Line.
• Carlos met Shanks on Peach Blossom Island, fought him to a draw, and then shared a drink with him and his companions.
• Carlos awakened his Conqueror's Haki and decided to recruit Shiryu from Impel Down.
• Carlos entered Impel Down using Kamui and spotted Kaido, King the Conflagration, and other powerful figures on the prison's fourth floor.

Carlos freed Kaido to create an opening to recruit Shiryu, then assembled a crew and sailed the Dark Moon into the Grand Line. After defeating an allied fleet, he reached Whiskey Peak and began a fierce fight with Bartholomew Bear.

• Carlos freed Kaido from Impel Down, and Kaido rampaged through the prison before escaping with King after their battle.
• After Magellan won the duel for Warden, Carlos recruited Shiryu by proving his strength in a fight.
• Carlos brought Shiryu to Paradise Island, recruited Belzanna and Carlsholmer, and prepared the crew and Black Alliance for his departure.
• Carlos said goodbye to Olvia and Robin, then sailed from the West Sea aboard the Dark Moon with his crew.
• The crew defeated the Butcher Knife Pirate Group, crossed Reverse Mountain, and fought the allied fleet blockading the Grand Line entrance.

Carlos formed the Divine Eye Pirates, defeated Crocodile, and fought Kizaru before the crew’s bounties spread across the Grand Line. After training on Primordial Island and awakening the Rinnegan, Carlos headed for Drum Island with medical supplies taken from a merchant ship, demanding access and training for Sholmer.

• Carlos subdued Bear, who introduced himself as Bartholomew Bear and suggested the name Divine Eye Pirates, then Carlos joined his crew in fighting Crocodile’s group and forced Crocodile to surrender.
• Carlos led the Nethermoon against Kizaru and the Marines, fought Kizaru to a stalemate, and departed after both sides recovered their dead.
• Kong and Sengoku placed the Divine Eye Pirates on the Marines’ target list and issued bounties that totaled more than 600 million Berries across the crew.
• Carlos and his crew reached Primordial Island, explored its dangerous wildlife, and watched Riley train against Dorry and Brogy for several months.
• Carlos awakened the Rinnegan, mastered its conventional abilities, and marked fierce island creatures for later summoning.
• The crew left Primordial Island and attacked pirates who were targeting a merchant ship, driving the remaining pirate ships away.
• Carlos’s crew took the merchant ship’s Drum Kingdom medical supplies and demanded protected entry to the kingdom and advanced medical training for Sholmer in exchange.

Carlos led the Divine Eye Pirates to victory over the Marines on Drum Island, secured medical resources, and escaped before Sengoku arrived. In Alabasta, Fujitora helped Shiryu improve his swordsmanship, Sholmer gained a Devil Fruit, and the crew took in the wounded Louis.

• The Divine Eye Pirates fought Akainu’s Marine forces on Drum Island with controlled Rabons and beasts, defeating the Marines across several fronts before Akainu’s troops withdrew.
• Carlos made the King of Drum Kingdom hand over medical techniques, supplies, and two Devil Fruits in exchange for a partnership with the West Blue Mafia.
• Carlos took the crew to the Dark Moon before Sengoku arrived, and the Marines found no trace of them on Drum Island.
• In Nanohana, Carlos met Fujitora Issho and asked him to help Shiryu improve his swordsmanship, and Fujitora agreed to spar with him.
• Fujitora fought Shiryu in the desert, then advised him to temper his mind and cultivate his character.
• Carlos identified the Bison Fruit and Mushroom-Mushroom Fruit in a Devil Fruit Encyclopedia and gave the Mushroom-Mushroom Fruit to Sholmer for his research.
• On the way to Alubarna, Carlos and the crew joined a desert gunfight and helped turn it into a three-way battle.
