History

Founding

The Witch Clan is established after Di Jun and Eastern Emperor Taiyi found the Demon Race and claim authority over the Primordial World. Angered by this declaration, Di Jiang leads the Ancestor Witches in founding a rival clan from Mount Buzhou. He invokes the Great Dao and Pangu, uses the Pangu Great Hall to suppress the clan's fate, and declares that the Twelve Ancestor Witches will jointly rule Heaven and Earth. Merit subsequently descends upon the founders. 24

The clan's founding doctrine combines a stated mission to govern and enlighten the beings of the Primordial World with an explicit ambition to contend with—and ultimately replace—the Demon Race. 24 27

Expansion and Blood Food

The Witch Clan expands outward from Mount Buzhou, dividing its territory into twelve regions, each overseen by an Ancestor Witch. The Pangu Blood Pool continuously produces new clan members, including Great Witches such as Kuafu, Dayi, Xingtian, and Chiyou. 27 32

During its early expansion, the clan captures and consumes Primordial World beings as Blood Food. This practice, paired with the Ancestor Witches' group hunting, drives many threatened beings to seek the Demon Race's protection. 27 29

Houtu increasingly objects to the slaughter, warning Di Jiang that reducing killing is necessary if the clan wants the world's beings to submit willingly. Di Jiang instead views the growing baleful aura of the world as favorable to the Witch Clan's rise. 66

Rise against the Demon Race

After Houtu brings back the Mind Intent Method, the Ancestor Witches gain a substitute for the Primordial Spirit that allows them to control Spiritual Treasures. This removes one of the Demon Race's major advantages and changes the Witch Clan's combat style. 29 48

The Witch Clan's first major war with the Demon Race nearly ends in a decisive Witch victory. The Ancestor Witches and Great Witches overpower the Demon forces through superior physiques, Quasi-Sage cultivation, and coordinated use of Spiritual Treasures. Hongjun intervenes before Di Jun and Taiyi can be killed, ordering a truce and dividing authority between the heavens and earth. 47 48

The Twelve Ancestor Witches activate the Twelve Capital Celestial Evil-Slaying Formation during the conflict. Although the formation is reported to have produced a Pangu phantom capable of contending with a Saint, its use leaves the Ancestor Witches unconscious for nearly a century and without memory of the aftermath. They later restrict its use to life-or-death crises. 51

Houtu's Departure

Repeated wars and the plight of wandering souls cause Houtu to accept responsibility for the Witch Clan's karmic debt. After transforming into Reincarnation and proving the Dao as Pingxin of the Earthly Dao, she formally renounces her Witch Clan identity. 100 118

Di Jiang expels Pingxin after she states that the Primordial World belongs to all living beings rather than the Witch Clan alone. Her departure reduces the clan from Twelve to Eleven Ancestor Witches, weakening its position against the Demon Race. 118 128

Final War and Reform

When the seal connected to the Demon Race's world breaks, the Witch Clan gathers at Mount Buzhou for another full-scale conflict. The Demon Race's Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation places the Ancestor Witches at a disadvantage, while Pingxin is prevented from intervening by the Heavenly Dao and Hongjun. 170 171

The Witch-Demon War later resumes after both factions awaken from a mysterious mass sleep. Di Jiang attempts to exploit the Demon Race's condition by attacking the Heavenly Court, but the conflict remains destructive and unresolved until Cheng Yue intervenes. 207 208 210

To preserve the clan for the possible future resurrection of Pangu, Di Jiang accepts peace rather than continuing mutual destruction. The Witch Clan subsequently agrees to stop consuming Blood Food; Pingxin leads members into Human Race territory to learn livestock raising and brewing. 210 211
