Background / History
Pangu opened the Primordial World. According to Cheng Yue, Pangu was plotted against by the Great Dao and died afterward, allowing the Heavenly Dao to be born. The Heavenly Dao became the world’s governing authority, while Saints could obtain a portion of its authority by entrusting their Primordial Spirits to it through Primordial Violet Qi 116 53.
The Earthly Dao retained a record of the world's early development: ferocious beasts gave way to three powerful races that ruled the sky, land, and sea, before their conflict devastated the West. Later eras included the Dao-Demon Conflict, the rise of the Witch Clan at Mount Buzhou, and the Demon Race's establishment of the Heavenly Court 203 236 24.
The Witch Clan and Demon Race both claimed to educate and ultimately control the Primordial World. Their struggle spread slaughter and baleful aura across its lands, creating Lost Souls with no suitable destination until Houtu transformed herself into the Six Paths of Reincarnation and became Pingxin 27 66 100.
Nuwa created the Human Race beside the South Sea, declaring herself its Holy Mother and forbidding others from disturbing it without permission. Humanity later spread across the continent and into Lesser, Middle, and Great Thousand Worlds 88 104 148.
Zhenyuanzi's completion of formation flags across the mountains, rivers, seas, and Netherworld brought forth the Earthly Dao. Through the Book of Earth, he gained authority over the terrain and could appoint mountain gods, land deities, sea gods, and river earls to help preserve the world's geography 203 240.

Future
Cheng Yue examined multiple branches of the River of Time and found no future in which the Primordial World remained whole. In every observed outcome, the continent shattered into countless fragments that became Small Thousand, Middle Thousand, and Great Thousand Worlds; the Heavenly Dao would fragment with it 236.
The precise cause of this destruction is obscured even from the Heavenly Dao. Cheng Yue suspected that a supreme existence had hidden the missing portion of history or influenced the world’s fate 236 237.
Despite this foretold end, the Primordial World naturally assimilates surrounding Chaos and continues to grow. The Heavenly Dao abandoned its previous plan to deliberately trigger a calamity after recognizing that unrestricted development could lead to a greater opportunity beyond the current order 237.
