The Wood Spirit Physique originated as the post-tribulation true body of the Thousand-Year Tree Spirit. A plant spirit has only a minute chance of forming such a physique after surviving lightning tribulation; Daoist records describe past possessors as having exceptional potential, with some attaining immortality. 168

After Chen Yan killed the Thousand-Year Tree Spirit, he identified its body as a Wood Spirit Physique and chose to refine it into an Outer Body Incarnation. He first used Spirit Commanding talismans to eradicate surviving soul fragments, preventing them from developing into a new spirit that could reclaim the body. He then completed the incarnation ritual with the Six Ding Six Jia Talismans, Seven Star Candle Stand, and Supreme Clarity formations. 168
