Background / History

Madara was one of Konoha’s founders alongside Senju Hashirama. During the village’s founding era, he advocated conquering the other ninja villages and unifying the Ninja World through a short, decisive conflict; Hashirama rejected this proposal in favor of peace through the village system. Madara later judged that the ensuing Ninja World Wars proved his prediction correct. 218 311

His bond and rivalry with Hashirama defined much of his life. The two fought for three days and nights at the Valley of the End, where Madara obtained Hashirama’s living cells. He later transplanted them into his chest, creating a Hashirama-like face that gradually eroded into his body. 29 218 220

Madara once intended to lead much of the Uchiha Clan away from Konoha, but internal Uchiha opposition—apparently influenced by Senju Tobirama—stripped him of his position as clan head. The surviving Uchiha leadership feared his eventual return. 319
