Background / History

During the Warring States Period, the Shimura Clan was regarded as a second-rate ninja clan with only a few centuries of history, far younger than clans such as the Senju and Uchiha. Its traditional specialty was Wind Release rather than physical enhancement research. At its peak, it reportedly possessed three True Kage-level fighters, but by the early Konoha period only Danzō Shimura held that level of strength, alongside two Quasi-Kage-level members. 22 34

The clan maintained a longstanding alliance with the Sarutobi Family dating back to the Warring States Period. The two families intermarried, and their Wind Release and Great Fireball techniques were considered highly compatible. 5

After Sarutobi Hiruzen became Hokage, the Shimura Clan occupied an insecure political position. The Senju retained many senior Konoha positions, while Danzō held only the nominal office of Hokage's Assistant. Kentei considered the clan vulnerable to pressure from rival ninja-clan factions. 3
