Background / History

Wang Xuanling leads Jade Sword Peak, one of Mount Shu's Five Sword Peaks. As the Five Sword Peaks declined alongside Mount Shu, he became a prominent force preserving their old spirit of courage, initiative, and demon slaying. His reputation for ruthless action became so widespread that many demons and evil spirits thought of him before Mount Shu's Sect Leader. 68

He runs Jade Sword Peak through broad recruitment and intense internal competition. The peak has more than one hundred disciples, who compete for resources from a young age; this model produced Xu Ziyang as its standout disciple. 68

Wang has two lifelong ambitions: restoring Mount Shu's Demon Suppressing Pagoda and returning the sect to its former position as leader of the immortal sects, and attaining the Great Dao to control Heavenly Origin or even comprehend Profound Understanding. Believing his own talent insufficient for the latter goal, he places great expectations on Xu Ziyang. 68

Despite his severity, he is highly protective of Jade Sword Peak's disciples. He personally entered the Immortal Marsh when Xu Ziyang went missing, placing his disciple's safety above the mission to clear the Calamity Ba. 182

After Xu Ziyang and Chu Liang disappeared in the Immortal Marsh, Wang arrived personally and used the Mirror Sky Eight Trigrams to search the entire area. His priority was recovering his missing disciple rather than completing the Calamity Ba-clearing mission. 182

Afterward, Wang and Chu Liang devised a counterplan against the Sea Master's scheme: rather than merely withdrawing, they would use the planned gathering to draw out hostile Eighth Realm experts. Wang then infiltrated the Guixu Divine Sect disguised as Xuan Yinzi. 726
