Power Progression

The following milestones track the Alliance’s collective strength and territorial expansion, rather than an individual cultivation realm.

History

Foundation

The Alliance originated among Human Race sects and cultivation families persecuted by the Demon Race in Demon Star Sea. Old Ancestor Heavenly Star and his companions fought to establish Heavenly Star City, creating a lasting Human Race foothold in hostile territory. Their opportunity arose during Demon King Liu Yu’s centuries-long disappearance 124 344 501.

The founding coalition retained complicated factional loyalties. Starlight Academy was established to train cultivators whose allegiance would increasingly belong to the Alliance itself rather than their original families or sects. Its intended long-term purpose was to place academy-trained cultivators throughout the organization’s leadership 124.

Old Ancestor Heavenly Star’s authority preserved the founding pact and restrained the major families. Heavenly Law Ancestor and Ancestor Tian Xing supported him, while four meritorious cultivation families formed the strongest bloc outside his direct following 198 216 344.

South Sea Cooperation and the Spirit Medicine Crisis

The Alliance pursued cooperation with the Southern Sea Cultivation World through alchemy exchanges and a Dao Discussion Convention. Although the South Sea initially used elaborate demonstrations and competitive events to assert its strength, the exchanges established sustained contact between the two regions 243 264 272 319.

When Demon Race suppression threatened Heavenly Star City’s spirit herb supplies, Old Ancestor Heavenly Star approved the Sea Spirit Pill project. Su Bai served as the Alliance’s sole envoy to the Merfolk Race, securing trade and resolving the transitional herb shortage 287 300.

A subsequent battle against the Demon Race killed Ancestor Tian Xing and two South Sea Nascent Soul cultivators. Heavenly Law Ancestor and Old Ancestor Heavenly Star suffered severe injuries, though the latter’s confrontation with Liu Yu secured approximately a century of relative safety for Heavenly Star City 344.

The shared battle removed the remaining obstacles to a formal alliance with the South Sea. Teleportation Arrays connected the regions, South Sea forces established strongholds in Heavenly Star City, and Starlight Academy admitted South Sea students 344.

Succession Disputes and Green Ying Expansion

The weakening of the founding leadership allowed the Nascent Soul families to compete more openly for power. Xun Huo’s campaign against Green Ying Spirit Plain offered both genuine opportunities for lower-ranking cultivators and a route for the lineage faction to gain control of the Alliance 344 366.

Old Ancestor Heavenly Star appointed Su Bai Vice Alliance Leader after his Nascent Soul advancement, effectively identifying him as a successor. Su Bai formed the Second Alliance Army despite opposition from Xun Huo and allied family heads, then consolidated Green Ying Spirit Plain and developed its city and military infrastructure 368 369 384.

Su Bai later recruited Thunder Cloud Palace while guaranteeing its internal independence. Its admission helped attract further South Sea sects, sharply increasing the Alliance’s strength 475 479 482.

After conflict surrounding his Devil Race bloodline, Su Bai relinquished the Vice Alliance Leader’s credentials and treasury key and withdrew to Green Ying City. Three new Vice Alliance Leaders subsequently took office 495 496 497.

Leadership Transfers and Stagnation

Near the end of his life, Old Ancestor Heavenly Star named Heavenly Law Ancestor the second Alliance Leader. A six-month transition under the founder’s personal guidance allowed Heavenly Law to assume complete control before Old Ancestor Heavenly Star died in meditation 500 501.

After Heavenly Law Ancestor’s eventual death, internal competition became open factional suppression. The Alliance and Demon Star City each held five Spirit Plains, but the Alliance’s leadership abandoned its former expansionist momentum in favor of struggles over existing resources and authority 715.

Under Alliance Leader Xiao Shixi, the family faction dominated the Star Gazing Platform’s confidential affairs. The Alliance was divided among the Green Ying faction, the established families, and the South Sea forces 715 717.

Su Bai’s Return and Final Unification

Su Bai returned, executed Xiao Shixi, and announced his succession as Lu Jiu. His command publicly declared his Spirit Transformation attainment and required every Alliance Nascent Soul cultivator to assemble within three days, with refusal treated as treason 720 721.

Within ten days, his intervention reunited the three factions and restored the Alliance’s capacity for coordinated warfare. More than fifty Nascent Soul cultivators assembled to receive his orders 722.

Following the decisive war, the Alliance cleared the remaining Demon Race resistance and integrated the Ten Great Spirit Plains. Su Bai’s prestige, the common victory, and the distribution of spoils consolidated the factions. By this period, Yun Jianming held an unshakable position as Alliance Leader 736.

Organization and Governance

Leadership

The Alliance is a loose coalition, but much of its authority is concentrated in the Alliance Leader. Old Ancestor Heavenly Star opposed allowing hereditary families to turn it into a conventional sect, believing that such a structure would limit Human Race development in Demon Star Sea 366 500.

Although an earlier reward promised Su Bai the title of “second Vice Alliance Leader,” his eventual appointment is explicitly described as the first establishment of that office since the Alliance’s founding 301 368.

Major Factions

• Family membership changed over time: the lineage faction replaced the Feng Family with the Zhong Family after Feng Lingchen committed to Su Bai’s side 476.
• The Han Family later rose in status: by Xiao Shixi’s period, it belonged to a new grouping called the Five Great Families 718.

Member Rights and Obligations

• Internal autonomy: Thunder Cloud Palace was permitted to retain its independent system and withdraw if membership ceased to benefit it 475.
• Wartime contributions: member sects had defined obligations to provide cultivators and resources 478.
• Education and employment: sect disciples could study at Starlight Academy and qualify for Alliance positions through assessment 478.
• Equal institutional access: the Heavenly Punishment Platform, Star Luo Market, and Starlight Academy were to treat sect forces equally 478.
• Protection and representation: sects could establish strongholds in Heavenly Star City and receive Alliance protection against external attacks 478.

Institutions and Resources

Alchemy and Cultivation Supply

• Star Luo Pill Pavilion: an attached but initially organizationally separate alchemy power. Su Bai pledged to draw it closer to the Alliance and later proposed incorporating it into Starlight Academy’s alchemy branch 200 253 259 369.
• Sea Spirit Pills: developed to exploit marine spirit medicines and reduce vulnerability to land-based herb shortages. They had become common within the Alliance by its South Sea expansion period 287 300 482.
• Postwar holdings: unification brought Spirit Veins, mineral deposits, secret realms, Medicine Gardens, ancient ruins, and affiliated resource sites under Alliance control 736.

External Relations

• Demon Race — Foundational enemy and principal territorial rival. Demon King Liu Yu threatened the Alliance’s survival, while Demon Star City later anchored resistance to further expansion 344 486 497.
• Southern Sea Cultivation World — Initially a competitive diplomatic partner; later connected through formal cooperation, teleportation links, education, and large-scale migration into the Alliance 264 344 482.
• Merfolk Race — Trade partner approached through Su Bai’s embassy to secure the marine ingredients needed for Sea Spirit Pill development 287 300.
• Immortal Palace and Holy Hall — Rival organizations that attempted to recruit Starlight Academy’s lightning prodigy Xiao Long’er. Direct conflict posed particular risks because Heavenly Star City was a fixed target 161.
• Holy Hall — Later became militarily outmatched as the Alliance expanded. Su Bai eradicated its stronghold on Green Ying Spirit Plain 482.
• Azure Fish Hall — Viewed unfavorably by the Alliance; Su Bai initially avoided academy membership partly because exposure of his Azure Fish identity could invite retaliation 124.

Insignia

• Banner: bears the Tian Xing emblem and radiates dense spiritual light 264.
• Uniforms: Alliance robes were worn throughout its South Sea delegation, including by Star Luo Pill Pavilion alchemists, to present a unified organization 264.
