Background / History
The alliance was formed by Human Race sects and cultivation families of the Demon Star Sea that had suffered under Demon Race persecution. Its early structure retained deep factional divisions between its founding forces, despite their shared cause. 124
Old Ancestor Heavenly Star established Heavenly Star City and served as the alliance's central pillar. His personal strength upheld the founding pact and restrained the major cultivation families. Four meritorious families that had helped him slaughter demons and build the city became the alliance's strongest forces outside his direct lineage. 198 216
To reduce inherited divisions, the alliance founded Starlight Academy to educate core disciples in cultivation techniques and the Hundred Arts of Cultivation. The academy was intended to produce a generation whose shared training would eventually replace factional loyalties. 124

Core Bodies
- Star Gazing Platform — Leadership venue at the summit of the Star Tower; originally built by Old Ancestor Heavenly Star to observe celestial phenomena and deduce star trajectories. 715
- Heavenly Punishment Platform — Enforces alliance authority; its Nine Directors are served by Golden Core cultivators and answer directly to Old Ancestor Heavenly Star. 228
- Starlight Academy — Alliance academy responsible for cultivation instruction, combat training, and education in the Hundred Arts. 124
- Star Luo Pill Pavilion — Major alchemy institution that became a mainstream alliance force under Lu Jiu's succession. 259
- Alliance Army — Military structure organized into Golden Core-led brigades, with Foundation Establishment and Qi Refining cultivators forming subordinate squadrons and teams. 374
Membership and Regulations
The alliance originally consisted of Human Race families and sects, but later began accepting complete outside sects. Thunder Cloud Palace was the first major sect formally invited to join, while the Crimson Flame Sect joined afterward. 475 478
Sect members retain independent internal systems and may leave the alliance and Green Ying Spirit Plain if membership ceases to benefit them. 475
Newly admitted sects must meet annual resource quotas and provide specified cultivators and resources during wartime. In return, their disciples may enter Starlight Academy, compete for alliance positions, establish strongholds in Heavenly Star City, and receive alliance protection from external attacks. 478
- Thunder Cloud Palace — Received a cluster of Heavenly Star City strongholds and spiritual land in Green Ying Spirit Plain after joining. 477
- Crimson Flame Sect — Admitted under the sect regulations but allocated comparatively ordinary spiritual land due to its lesser standing. 478
- Southern Sea sects — More than one-third eventually joined, greatly increasing the alliance's Nascent Soul and Golden Core population. 482
Territories and Strongholds
| Territory / Location | Significance |
|---|---|
| Heavenly Star City | The alliance's headquarters and the largest, oldest, and most prosperous Human Race cultivator city in the Demon Star Sea. 713 |
| Green Ying Spirit Plain | Frontier territory and later a base for rogue cultivators, sect forces, Green Ying Academy, and Su Bai's faction. 476 496 |
| Demon Sealing Stronghold | Fortification built around a Demon Race altar in Green Ying Spirit Plain; protected by a top-tier defensive array and rotating Nascent Soul guards. 398 |
| Ten Great Spirit Plains | Following the final campaign against the Demon Race, all ten Spirit Plains and their resources came under alliance control. 734 |
Major Arcs
South Sea Alliance and Alchemy Exchange
The alliance sent a delegation to the Southern Sea Cultivation World for the South Sea Alchemy Grand Gathering, seeking to exchange alchemy techniques and establish an alliance. Its cohesion contrasted sharply with the scattered Southern Sea powers. 243 264
During the gathering's competitions, the alliance's alchemists and Golden Core cultivators represented its prestige against South Sea challengers. Su Bai's victories and leadership became crucial to alliance morale. 265 324
Spirit Medicine Crisis
When the Demon Race restricted access to spirit medicine, the alliance backed True Man He's proposal to develop Sea Spirit Pills. Lu Jiu was appointed sole envoy to negotiate with the Merfolk Race for Sea Spirit Plants, carrying Old Ancestor Heavenly Star's writ. 287
Lu Jiu secured trade with the Merfolk Race, relieved Heavenly Star City's transitional herb shortage, and neutralized the Demon Race's blockade. 300
Green Ying Spirit Plain Campaign
After losses suffered during the conflict with Demon Cultivators, major Nascent Soul families sought influence through the conquest of Green Ying Spirit Plain. The campaign created a power struggle between Old Ancestor Heavenly Star's faction and Xun Huo's family forces. 344 366
Upon reaching Nascent Soul, Lu Jiu became Vice Alliance Leader, Palace Master of Starlight Academy, and manager of alliance pill and spirit-medicine affairs. He organized a second allied army for Green Ying and positioned the plain as a future gathering point for sect forces. 368 369 476
Expansion Through Sect Integration
Lu Jiu persuaded Thunder Cloud Palace to relocate from the South Sea to Green Ying Spirit Plain and join the alliance. He argued that sect integration was necessary to prepare for the eventual decisive war against the Demon Race. 475 476
The alliance's strength rose rapidly as Southern Sea sects joined. Its Nascent Soul cultivators increased substantially, its Golden Core population grew by nearly one hundred, and Sea Spirit Pills became widely used. 482
Demon Race Offensive
After Lu Jiu resigned as Vice Alliance Leader, the alliance formed three armies under its newly selected vice leaders and launched a five-year offensive. It captured three Demon Race Spirit Plains, giving the Human Race control of half of the Demon Star Sea's ten major Spirit Plains. 496 497
Factional Split
Following the deaths of Old Ancestor Heavenly Star and later Heavenly Law Ancestor, the alliance fractured into three major factions:
- Green Ying Spirit Plain faction — Led by Yun Jianming; built on Green Ying's resources, sword inheritance, alchemy channels, rogue cultivator support, and Su Bai's former foundation. 713
- Family faction — Centered on the former four great families and other established Heavenly Star City families; held deep political roots and controlled wealthy regions. 713
- Southern Sea faction — Formed around Thunder Cloud Palace, Pill Island, and other relocated Southern Sea powers. 713
Lu Jiu's Return and Reunification
Xiao Shixi's family faction attempted to use Lu Jiu's return to test and suppress the Green Ying faction. Lu Jiu instead defeated Xiao Shixi at the Star Gazing Platform, captured his Nascent Soul, and had him executed for his crimes. 716 718 719
Lu Jiu's Spirit Transformation cultivation forced more than fifty Nascent Soul cultivators to gather and submit. He rapidly transformed the divided alliance into a unified military force and marched on Demon Star City. 720
The resulting war eliminated the Demon Race's remaining resistance, brought all Ten Great Spirit Plains under alliance control, and forcibly merged the former factions through shared war aims and the distribution of conquered resources. 734
