Background

Tony led Stark Industries as a prominent weapons manufacturer before being abducted in Afghanistan by the Ten Rings, whose attack had been arranged by his business partner, Obadiah Stane. Stane intended to have Tony killed and seize full control of Stark Industries. 47

George infiltrated the Ten Rings’ base, rescued Tony and Yinsen, and destroyed the cave and its evidence. Tony initially distrusted his rescuer, but accepted George’s honesty that the rescue was partly motivated by Stark Industries stock. 52 Learning that Stark weapons had harmed civilians—including a Sokovian family—forced Tony to confront his responsibility for the company’s products. History

Iron Man and the Vanko Incident

Tony asked George to help rescue civilians during Ivan Vanko’s attack on the Universal Exhibition Hall. While Tony drew the robot forces away, George destroyed or immobilized much of Vanko’s robot army. 173 174 Tony then restored War Machine through a system backdoor and joined George and Rhodey against Vanko. 175

After Vanko was captured, he detonated an internal bomb, severely injuring Tony and Rhodey. George healed Tony with magic. 176

Superpower Academy
