Background / History

Erza was born to Irene, who had been transformed into a Dragon and later restored to human form by Zeref. Fearing that she would lose control again, Irene abandoned the infant Erza and went to the Western Continent. 482

As a child, Erza was enslaved alongside Jellal, Simon, Shô, and other children in the construction of the Tower of Paradise. Erza and Jellal eventually led a rebellion against their captors, but Jellal later underwent a drastic personality change, expelled her, and compelled their former companions to continue building the tower. 205

Erza joined Fairy Tail and passed its S-Class Mage examination at age fifteen. Her standing, combat ability, and strict demeanor earned her the title “Queen of Fairy Tail.” 100

Years later, Jellal’s followers captured Erza to use her as a vessel in the R System’s plan to resurrect Zeref. She returned to the Tower of Paradise to confront Jellal personally, but George forced her evacuation before the Magic of the Spirit struck.
