Nature and Cultivation

Thought Energy is a mysterious, knowledge-derived power close to Spirit. It is considered a higher-level force, but ordinary cultivators cannot directly cultivate pure Spirit; they instead cultivate Thought Energy, which contains impurities and depends on a physical foundation. The long-term objective of Thought Energy cultivation is to refine it toward spiritual energy. 782 1017

At the basic Heart Arts stage, Thought Energy originates in, acts upon, and is stored in the brain. Its early applications are restricted to the brain and primarily assist the user rather than directly affecting the external world. 445

Knowledge directly supports its growth: when the overall limit is broken, accumulated knowledge can be converted into a large surge of Thought Energy. The quantity available is limited by both cultivation and the nervous system's ability to bear the load. 655 1079
