Background / History

World was one of three top-tier pirates released from Impel Down after the Golden Lion followed an Illusionary Clone's guidance into the prison and formed an alliance with its escapees. He was introduced alongside Patrick Redfield and Douglas Bullet as the World Destroyer, Bandy World 71.

He later cooperated with the Joker in a scheme using Dyna Stone fragments. World used the Moa Moa Fruit to enlarge the fragments beyond his usual limit, then launched them toward Mary Geoise at hundredfold speed 209. After the resulting catastrophe, he publicly claimed credit for the attack and prepared to build a reputation around the title of World Destroyer; the Joker was content to let him take the blame 213.

The World Government responded by pursuing him across the seas. As his crew declined, other pirates avoided joining the World Pirates, leaving the crew increasingly dependent on outside support and vulnerable to Navy pressure 233.

World's strongest subordinates eventually betrayed him, sabotaging his fleet with a super-giant cannon. Poisoned during the betrayal, he cut off his own arm to prevent the poison from spreading and attempted to flee with Geppo and his Devil Fruit powers, only to be surrounded by Kizaru, Chapon, and Momousagi 241. He was subsequently defeated and captured by Kizaru 242.

Personality

World is driven by destruction, notoriety, and the desire to bring down the World Government. He reacted to the Mary Geoise explosion with excitement and readily embraced responsibility for it, believing it would validate his title 209 213.

His destructive ambition also made him susceptible to manipulation. The Joker persuaded him that he needed fame and a larger pirate crew before attempting to destroy Mary Geoise again, steering World into becoming a convenient public target 213.

Moa Moa Fruit

World's Devil Fruit can enlarge objects and amplify their speed, giving him extreme destructive capability without directly improving his physique.

Impel Down Escape

World was released from Impel Down during the Golden Lion's prison break and emerged as one of the major pirates allied through the operation 71.

Mary Geoise Explosion

He partnered with the Joker to weaponize Dyna Stone fragments, exceeding his fruit's normal multiplier and firing the explosives toward Mary Geoise 209. He then accepted public responsibility for the disaster, turning himself into the World Government's primary target 213.

Downfall and Capture

After prolonged Navy pursuit weakened the World Pirates, World was betrayed by his own senior subordinates, poisoned, and forced to amputate his arm. Kizaru's group intercepted him before he could escape, ending his pirate career for the time being 233 241 242.
