Background

Yuan Gun Gun was born with the Body Martial Soul Fat and an extraordinary ability to increase his Soul Power by eating. His gluttony made him a target of contempt within his clan, where relatives called him useless and burdensome. His parents nevertheless supported his cultivation: his father lost an arm while obtaining Yuan Gun Gun’s second Soul Ring, and they spent their savings on a City Lord’s recommendation letter so he could attend Shrek Academy. 43

At Shrek, Han Yu recognized the potential of Yuan Gun Gun’s martial soul rather than dismissing him. Han Yu gave him 2,000 Gold Soul Coins to support his eating and cultivation, earning Yuan Gun Gun’s lasting gratitude and loyalty. 43
