The Ruthless Chief
What should be done with the body?
Ailin paused for a moment upon hearing this, then followed everyone's gaze and looked behind him.
The Old Spearhead and the headless corpse of the Drowners King lay intertwined ten meters behind him.
The long table next to the headless corpse was in a mess.
Many of the witchers, their faces flushed and their grey linen clothes stained with wine, huddled in the corners of the hall.
Clearly, the appearance of the Drowners King and Old Spearhead disrupted the Witcher's feast.
Ailin glanced at the Sorceress instinctively.
"Smack!"
A snap of the fingers.
The School Emblem hummed simultaneously, like a swarm of bees suddenly taking flight in the hall.
This time, Ailin saw it clearly.
Beneath the headless corpse of the monster, the starry sky seemed to be reflected, with starlight shimmering in the darkness within a dark red arc of light around its edge.
In a short while, the bodies of the Drowners King and the Old Spearhead both disappeared.
"Just leave it with me. You can contact me whenever you need it."
A cool, clear female voice rang out, drawing everyone's attention away from the magic.
The Sorceress smiled and nodded at Ailin, ignoring the gazes of the other witchers.
Their indifferent attitude prompted everyone to mutter to themselves, "If they were going to put it there anyway, why send it over?"
Ailin had the same question in his mind, but then he noticed that although many of the faces around him were unfamiliar, their expressions of envy, admiration, or jealousy suggested that everyone knew him.
He then understood the Sorceress's intention.
Most of the Witchers who had returned home for the winter were now back, along with seven Witcher Master and the Chief Witcher; the majority of the School of the Wolf's Witchers were here.
The shock brought by the corpses of Old Mao and the Drowners King was enough to etch this scene deeply into their minds.
It's different from the half-believing, half-doubting acceptance and respect gained from hearsay.
This shock would later empower and support Ailin in every decision he made, whenever these witchers interacted with Ailin.
"Lady Vesemir wants to improve my reputation in the School of the Wolf as soon as possible."
Ailin felt a warmth in her heart.
As expected of Lady Vesemir, she was already paving the way for him at this moment.
What defines a responsible investor?
That's it.
With the departure of Old Spearhead and Drowners King, the non-stop revelry began.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
A large bag of charcoal was poured into the campfire, along with an Igni Sign.
The blazing flames rose up in an instant.
The two witchers then placed the wild boar they had just processed that afternoon over the campfire.
The grease dripped onto the red-hot charcoal and sizzled.
The atmosphere in the hall grew increasingly lively as the temperature rose.
At the long table in the main hall, more than forty witchers sat on either side, while Ailin and his men sat on either side of the chief.
As the chief rose to raise his glass, the demon hunters also stood up from their seats.
"New blood has arrived, Witchers of the Wolf School, let us raise our glasses in celebration!"
"Aye! Aye! Aye!"
The witchers were making strange noises.
The wine glasses clinked against the wooden table, making a loud thud.
Golden liquid spilled onto the table, instantly filling the hall with its aroma.
The wine wasn't even finished, but the atmosphere was already slightly tipsy.
In the revelry of the banquet, besides the fine wine, Ailin was the absolute star.
"Ailin, Ailin, tell us quickly, how did you kill these two monsters?"
"Yes, come and tell us about it."
After a couple of drinks, Ailin's conversation became much more animated.
"... Old Spearhead's massive body fell directly over my head, casting a huge shadow over me, and in an instant, the sky went dark..."
After a pause, Ailin cleared her throat, raised her glass, and took a delicious sip of fruit wine.
A spicy kick on the tongue, followed by bitterness and then sweetness, with a rich fruity aroma that instantly permeates the heart and soul.
"Go on, Ailin, and then what?"
The sudden interruption of Ailin's story made the witchers present feel uneasy, and they urged him on impatiently.
After drinking the beverage, Ailin smacked his lips again and continued:
"... Then I dodged and hid in a crevice in the rocks. Old Spearhead's big foot stomped down, sending sand and gravel flying. At the closest point, I could clearly see the thick, long hairs on Old Spearhead's legs..."
The story of "Old Spearhead's fierce battle with the King of Ice, and the Witcher apprentice reaping the benefits" is embellished by Ailin and is thrilling and quite legendary.
From luring the tiger away from the mountain with the Old Spearhead, miraculously encountering the Conjunction of the Spheres, to using the Ice Lance Spell to maintain the balance of power among the monsters, and finally taking their heads.
The witcher at the long table listened with rapt attention.
Hughes, Bont, and Fred looked on with admiration. As fellow witchers who had passed the trial, they showed no disappointment at having their glory stolen, and instead echoed each other's sentiments.
It provides a lot of emotional value.
While Ailin was making up a story, the chief quietly left his seat and walked to a corner of the hall.
The Sorceress leaned against the darkness, her right hand gently lifting a crystal glass, slowly swirling the red wine inside, gazing absently toward the long table.
The chief followed her gaze.
Ailin's face was flushed and he looked radiant, his youthful face brimming with confidence.
"How about we celebrate together?" the chief asked with a smile.
She lazily shook her head, took a small sip of red wine, and said nothing.
The chief hesitated for a moment, then casually sidled up to the Sorceress.
The Sorceress glanced at him but made no move.
Seeing this, the chief seemed encouraged and took a few steps to walk to her side, leaning against the darkness in the same manner.
"Vesemir, just as the prophecy foretold, the Child of Miracle has crossed the grave of death."
"Um."
"Vesemir, reality has proven that our choice was right."
"Um."
"Vesemir... Vera, can we start over?"
"..." Vesemir stopped swirling her wine glass upon hearing this.
She gazed intently at the chief, making him so uneasy that even the smile on his face became unnatural.
Then the Sorceress suddenly laughed.
The sudden smile lifted the chief's spirits, making him think the Sorceress was about to agree to reconcile with him. However, after smiling briefly, she turned to the long table and, in a rough voice, imitated him:
"Just consider us witchers, transformed into cold-blooded monsters by White Gull Potion..."
After a pause, she continued:
"Soyer, you've already been transformed into a cold and ruthless person by the White Gull Potion, how can we start over?"
Upon hearing this, the chief's smile suddenly froze, and he shook his head helplessly, thinking to himself:
"Vesemir is still the same as before, she really holds a grudge."
"Yes, I do hold grudges." The Sorceress nodded, making no attempt to conceal her mind-reading abilities.
The chief was not angry but rather pleased.
As long as you're willing to joke with him, there's always hope.
So, while chatting intermittently with the Sorceress, he listened intently as Ailin, amidst the praise of the many witchers, recounted several more stories of his battles against Old Spearhead and the Drowners King.
"By the way, Soyer."
The Sorceress's stern voice suddenly came from the side.
"What's wrong, Wei?"
The chief immediately perked up his ears.
When are you going to inform Ailin and the others about the Apprentice Combat Tournament between the School of the Wolf and the School of the Cat?

The fourth catastrophe theme, a super Frankenstein's monster.
This is a new book from a reputable, established author. His previous book was reportedly cancelled twice but managed to stay afloat for a quarter until completion, so his integrity is beyond question. It's currently reaching its first major climax, and readers can expect to devour it immediately.
