The school bell rang, and the students gradually filed out through the gates and left campus. Yet two figures lurked about suspiciously, as though plotting something.
Watching Lin Yingbin tail someone with all the professionalism of a seasoned stalker, Ryuseki felt helpless and said, "Lin Yingbin, isn't this a bad idea? Doing something like this is really beneath us."
"How else are we supposed to find out whether Ryuu Mufei is up to no good?" Lin Yingbin abruptly turned and glared at Ryuseki, then patted his shoulder to signal him to stay hidden.
"I didn't want to know in the first place!" Ryuu Mufei answered speechlessly.
"Come on. You can't go wrong listening to me. I suspect Ryuu Mufei has something to do with Kikka You's death, and he even mentioned someone named Zhi. Who would bring up a person like that?" Lin Yingbin tugged Ryuseki's sleeve, signaling him to follow.
"So who exactly is Zhi?" Ryuseki was dragged out through the school gates by Lin Yingbin. Recalling some earlier events, he asked, "He's connected to Kikka You's death? Are you sure?"
Suddenly, Lin Yingbin shoved Ryuseki behind a small cluster of bushes by the surrounding wall.
"Hey!" Ryuseki protested, wanting to resist, but Lin Yingbin stopped him.
"Quick, keep your head down." Lin Yingbin pressed Ryuseki's head into the bushes. Only after Ryuu Mufei had passed did the two leap out, then begin their pursuit.
"This feels so embarrassing!" Ryuseki dusted himself off and complained, "I'm all filthy now. Kouhi is definitely going to nag me again when I get back."
"Hurry up, that guy's already gone far ahead." Lin Yingbin ignored Ryuseki's complaints completely and instead dragged him after Ryuu Mufei.
The two tailed Ryuu Mufei all the way. At that very moment, a group of people near Ryuseki's home was bustling about.
"Ah, finally finished moving. I'm exhausted. I finally got out of that house. Living alone is so freeing." A girl rubbed her arm as she walked into the house. She felt an indescribable sense of exhilaration, curling her lips into a slight smile as she looked with satisfaction at the living room decorations she had designed.
Then she went upstairs and discovered a locked room, with a key still inserted in the keyhole. So she opened the door.
"Huh? Why hasn't anything in here been moved out?" The girl looked around at the furnishings, then walked to the desk and examined a photograph lying there. "This girl is pretty cute, but why didn't she take her things with her? The landlord said everything had already been moved out."
Back with Ryuseki, he and Lin Yingbin followed Ryuu Mufei into an alley. There was nothing particularly unusual about it at first glance, but alleys like these often concealed many strange establishments.
Ryuu Mufei entered the alley, passed around a corner, and had his path blocked by several people sitting atop broken railings and metal crates.
"Hey, handsome over there."
They were several street women dressed provocatively, with curvaceous figures. They waved at Ryuu Mufei.
Their flaming red hair and the tattoos on their shoulders made it clear that they belonged to a notorious group of drifters that had recently taken over the area.
"Hm? Are you calling me?" Ryuu Mufei pointed at himself.
One of the short-haired women, whose ears were covered in metal hoops, nodded and gestured for him to follow. Without thinking much of it, Ryuu Mufei followed them deeper into the alley.
"That guy actually has connections with people like them?" Ryuseki said with a pout.
"Forget that for now. Follow them."
Only when they caught up did they discover that Ryuu Mufei had been surrounded by a crowd.
The people surrounding him held iron rods and short knives. They did not look like Ryuu Mufei's associates at all—rather, they looked like robbers.
This group had only recently taken root here. Nobody knew where they had gotten guns, but everyone nearby was terrified of them. Some people had called the police, but it was said their monster-like boss had connections with people higher up. So even when they committed crimes, the police turned a blind eye.
"So you're robbers. I thought you called me over for something else. Sorry, I didn't bring much money today. Let me see, I think I've only got a dozen or so." As he spoke, Ryuu Mufei pulled several small-denomination bills from his pocket and handed them over.
"Didn't they say he was really strong?" Ryuseki and Lin Yingbin hid by a corner wall and watched.
"What a coward!" Lin Yingbin said disdainfully.
The thick-necked man standing before Ryuu Mufei, with a gold chain as thick as a thumb hanging around his neck, slapped Ryuu Mufei's hand aside and sneered, "Are you looking down on us? Trying to fob us off like beggars, huh?"
"Man, I was just trying to save time by taking a shortcut home. Didn't expect to run into something even more troublesome. Seriously, I'm not coming this way again." Ryuu Mufei stuffed the money back into his pocket and turned to leave.
"Get this straight. Bring me more money tomorrow. Of course, we can't just let you go for free today either." As he spoke, he pulled a short knife from his waist. "Let's chop off one of your fingers first."
"Hey, those guys are serious. Let's go save him." Ryuseki rolled up his sleeves and was about to step forward when Lin Yingbin punched him on the head.
"Save him for what? He's from the Psychokinetic Clan." Lin Yingbin grinned. "Even if he gets beaten up, he brought it on himself. Who told him to come to a place like this? Besides, he definitely won't lose to a bunch of small fry like them. Just stay here and watch. Maybe we'll get to see how the Psychokinetic Clan fights. If he really loses, it only means he's too weak."
"Wait a moment. I don't like people who act without logic. If you want to make a move, at least give me a reason I can accept." Ryuu Mufei showed no fear in the face of the threat.
"Heh, are kids these days really this bold? A reason? I'll find you one." Another man in sunglasses waved a half-meter-long blade in front of Ryuu Mufei. "Does messing with Dong Ye's woman count? You dare set your sights on his woman? Are you looking to die?"
"Oh? Then I'm truly sorry." After smiling, Ryuu Mufei's expression suddenly darkened. He replied coldly, "Sorry, but I have absolutely no interest in that kind of trash."
"You little runt, you dare talk back after setting your sights on Dong Ye's woman? Get on your knees and say, 'Grandpa, I was wrong,' right now, or I'll cripple your fingers."
