Background / History

Mu Yu was reborn into a new world and used system assistance to plant the Divine Tree Hidden World, transforming the Courtyard world’s yellow sand into fertile soil. Seeking the means to survive and grow stronger, he joined Isshin Dojo, offering labor in exchange for lodging and swordsmanship instruction under Koshiro and Kuina. 6

Over the following year, Mu Yu trained far beyond ordinary disciples: he used a real blade, ran weighted laps, and increased his daily swings from ten thousand to thirty thousand. His training included repeated defeats at Koshiro’s hands and more than fifteen hundred sparring matches with Zoro. 20 21

Koshiro eventually awarded him a Menkyo Kaiden scroll in recognition of his mastery of Isshin Dojo techniques. Mu Yu later describes himself as the dojo’s genius disciple, having attained Menkyo Kaiden in one year. 35 359
