Background

Yan Nu was born in the snow beneath Tea Mountain alongside a female infant, later understood to be part of the same twin-state Wonderous Item phenomenon. He was raised in Tea Mountain Village by his grandfather until war destroyed their home and fields. 328 470

After learning that his grandfather had likely died fighting Tu Fa Yak at the Ji River, Yan Nu refused to abandon his vigil despite Shen Leling's attempts to take him away.
