Background / History

Sunset City was founded by a rogue cultivator who used Heavenly Sound Mountain's Third-Tier Spirit Vein to reach the Golden Core stage. He established the city by recruiting rogue cultivators and training his own disciples. Over more than two thousand years, the original loose alliance developed into an organized force with a formal inheritance. 592

The city grew from a border settlement into the southwestern Great Qi Cultivation World's foremost trade center and a renowned destination for cultivators. Its earlier prosperity was supported in part by trade routes with regional clans, including a Song Clan route that had existed for more than a century. 111 115

Despite once lacking a Golden Core cultivator, Sunset City continually produced Purple Palace cultivators and maintained three Purple Palace City Lords in Song Changsheng's era. Mu Guibai, the Great City Lord, was regarded as the cultivator most likely to reach the Golden Core stage. 115

Mu Guibai later achieved the Golden Core stage amid the Beast Tide and publicly slew the Thunderous Demon King before hundreds of thousands of witnesses, demonstrating that Sunset City possessed the strength and internal foundation of a Golden Core force. 533

Cityscape & Infrastructure

Sunset City stands beyond the Sunset Mountain Range, whose sunset glow gave the city its name. Its heavy, towering walls are built directly against the mountains, making the city resemble a colossal beast crouched on the range's edge. 115

Governance & Public Order

The City Lord's Mansion is Sunset City's central governing authority. Its highest leaders are the Three City Lords, supported by elders, disciples, descendants, and fellow sect members. 137

• Entry inspection — Visitors are examined with a Third-Tier demon-revealing mirror, which exposes concealed demons, devils, ghosts, and monsters. At least three Foundation Establishment cultivators openly guard a single city gate. 115

City Protection Great Array

Sunset City's primary defense is a Fourth-Tier, supreme-grade formation built around a Fourth-Tier Spirit Vein. It covers the entire city and is difficult to breach even under siege by multiple Demon Kings unless its spiritual energy is exhausted. 205
