Background / History
Wade met Allen at Xavier's School, where the two immediately bonded over their shared awareness of fictional heroes and their similarly disruptive sense of humor. He later introduced Allen to Pietro and Kurt, forming Dorm 404 with them. 96 99
The dormitory members attempted to start a food business despite having no capital, borrowing school ingredients and equipment. Wade handled flyers and served as a conspicuous attraction in a pink wig; their first day earned each member fifty dollars. 99 105 106
When the school was attacked and students were abducted, Wade was unaffected by the incapacitating gas and survived being shot repeatedly. He pushed Allen to form a team to rescue the captives, then joined Allen and Illyana in infiltrating Stryker's X-Weapon base. 106 108
Personality
Wade is loud, violent, and irreverent, often treating lethal situations as opportunities for jokes or theatrical banter. He openly describes himself as the “most popular character in Marvel Comics” and freely assigns unwanted pop-culture nicknames to others. 96 118
Despite his recklessness, he is protective of people he considers friends. He worried over Allen's disappearance, advocated rescuing Xavier's captured students, and led students protesting Allen's departure from the school. 100 106 112
His curiosity and desire for “interesting” events make him easy for Allen to manipulate. Although he initially rejected joining an evil organization, Allen convinced him to become Apocalypse's Fourth Horseman by promising an unexpected adventure. 121
Abilities & Skills
Regenerative Ability
Wade's body recovers from otherwise fatal injuries, allowing him to survive extreme trauma.
- He was unaffected by the school's knockout gas and continued functioning after being riddled with bullets. 106
- He can sustain repeated impalements and severe sword wounds during combat. 109 110
- His regeneration is tied to endlessly reproducing cancer cells; vampire blood-drinking effects treat his blood as poisonous. 241
- His soul is protected by Death's Blessing, making it effectively unkillable even by soul-targeting attacks. 110
- Wade considers his regenerative ability fully developed and declined Apocalypse's offer to awaken his potential. 124
Firearms and Swordsmanship
Wade fights with dual firearms and twin swords, combining aggressive close-quarters attacks with his ability to withstand damage.
- He carries two handguns and uses them during the X-Weapon Project infiltration. 108
- He fought Agent Zero in close combat on relatively even terms, though his regeneration was essential to enduring the exchange. 108
- He wielded twin swords against Death Girl and an imposter Deadpool clone. 109 110
- Allen enhanced Wade's swords with an Adamantium coating, allowing them to threaten opponents normally resistant to conventional weapons. 109
Fourth-Wall Awareness
Wade displays knowledge of comics, films, characters, and audience popularity that people around him do not share.
- He identifies himself as a character who “breaks the fourth wall.” 96
- He compares himself and others to movie portrayals, discusses comic-book popularity, and calls Magneto “Gandalf.” 96 118
- This awareness does not prevent Allen from confusing or misleading him with similarly implausible claims. 121
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Twin swords — Wade's principal melee weapons; later coated in Adamantium by Allen. 109
- Dual handguns — Used during armed infiltrations and combat operations. 108
- Battle suit phone — An electronic device embedded in his suit that Allen accessed and hacked. 239
- Sinestro Corps Ring — Worn during the battle against Skynet. 250
- Pink wig — Worn while helping Dorm 404 advertise its food stall. 105
Relationships
- Allen — Close friend, frequent combat partner, and fellow troublemaker. They rescued Xavier's students together, fought at the X-Weapon base, and later supported Apocalypse's plans side by side. 96 106 108 123
- Pietro Maximoff — Dorm 404 roommate and food-business partner; Pietro later admitted that Wade's description of Allen as a “crazy guy” did not apply to Wade himself. 99 427
- Kurt Wagner — Dorm 404 roommate and delivery worker for the group's food business. 99 105
- Illyana Rasputin — Teammate during the X-Weapon rescue operation; her Soulsword killed the imposter Deadpool after Wade struggled against it. 108 110
- Apocalypse — Accepted Wade as the Fourth Horseman on Allen's recommendation. 121
- Magneto — Entered a temporary arrangement with Wade: Magneto would help locate Allen, while Wade would work for the Brotherhood. 118
- Spider-Man — Referred to as Wade's good friend during their encounter with Allen. 241
- Colonel Stryker — Enemy responsible for the X-Weapon Project, Death Girl's control, and Deadpool cloning experiments. 109 110 123
Story Role / Major Arcs
Xavier's School and Dorm 404
Wade first encountered Allen while posing as a teacher at Xavier's School. He brought Allen into Dorm 404 with Pietro and Kurt, then helped operate their short-lived food stall. 97 99 105
Rescue of Xavier's Students
After the school assault, Wade survived the enemy's gas and gunfire, urged a rescue mission, and helped investigate the attack. He and Allen infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. and then the X-Weapon Project base to create a diversion while Illyana freed the prisoners. 106 107 108
Wade fought Agent Zero and Death Girl, received Adamantium-coated swords from Allen, and confronted Stryker's Deadpool clone. Illyana ultimately killed the clone, after which Wade assisted in capturing Stryker. 109 110
Apocalypse's Fourth Horseman
Wade led protests when Allen left Xavier's School with Apocalypse, then searched for him through Magneto's Brotherhood. Allen eventually recruited Wade as Apocalypse's Fourth Horseman by appealing to his curiosity. 112 118 121
He later refused potential awakening, arguing that his passive regenerative ability had already reached its natural limit. 124
Later Activities
Wade continued operating alongside Allen and Nanaue, escaping a vampire-related trap and agreeing to co-host Allen's proposed superhero livestream program. 241
He participated in Allen's kidnapping of a foreign warlord, fought alongside the Deadpool Corps during Skynet's assault, and later remained part of Allen's social circle at Quicksilver's restaurant. 243 250 373 427
