Background / History

Nanaue ran away from Shark Island because he did not want to marry the Hammerhead Shark Princess and had no friends there. After being found on a beach while attempting to return a woman's dropped bra, he told Allen that he was the Shark God's son. Allen persuaded him to become his pet by promising to introduce him to pink dolphins; Nanaue accepted because he understood a master as a friend he should obey 47.

He accompanied Allen to the Allied camp during World War II. The commandos initially feared him, but accepted him after seeing his harmless disposition. Nanaue became the assault team's mascot alongside Captain Steve, Carter, Dugan, Bucky, Namor, and Allen 48 54.

At the Battle of Bethel City, Nanaue swam through the snow under enemy fire, destroyed bunkers, and slaughtered Axis soldiers at the gate. The scent of blood drove him into a frenzy that made him attack indiscriminately until Allen blocked his nostrils to calm him 49. He later followed Allen and the team through ocean and Atlantean conflicts, acting as transport, a shield, and a frontline fighter 55 61.

After breaking into an aquarium to take a pink dolphin, Nanaue was captured by the Suicide Squad and implanted with a micro-bomb. Allen removed the device and transferred him to Arkham Asylum, where Nanaue became his “Shark Robin” 94. Personality

Nanaue is innocent, simple-minded, affectionate, and intensely loyal to Allen. He refers to himself in the third person, readily believes Allen's claims, and repeatedly affirms that he is Allen's pet 47 56.

His greatest interests are pink dolphins, food, and spending time with his master. He is easily distracted by dolphins even during major confrontations, and he once mistook an aquarium for the dolphin's home 94 326. Despite his fearsome appearance and capacity for violence, he is normally gentle enough to play with Morgan in a swimming pool and be trusted around her 226.

Nanaue is afraid of rats, reacts badly to blood, and has difficulty with tasks requiring coordination or judgment, such as riding a Mud Horse 48 49 55.
