It was already late, and there was no time to reach the nearest city. Di Hong had to consider Tang Yuehua as well; she was not a Spirit Master and could not endure the bumps of a long journey.
They could only stay at this inn. There was only one room, so Di Hong gave it to Tang Yuehua. He did not mind; a night would pass quickly enough while cultivating.
After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Di Hong took Tang Yuehua into town to buy a new set of clothes. She could not keep wearing that tattered dress and have people mistake her for a beggar.
That night.
Di Hong sat cross-legged alone on the rooftop, cultivating. Directly below was Tang Yuehua's room.
Tang Yuehua lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Right above her, a man was cultivating.
Nothing melodramatic happened that night. Di Hong cultivated peacefully through the entire night, leaving the inn staff speechless when they saw him. He had helped her to such an extent, yet Di Hong only cared about cultivating, leaving such a stunning beauty alone in the room.
They truly did not understand how a man like that had found such a beautiful girlfriend. It was enough to make anyone envious.
Early the next morning.
Di Hong went to buy a carriage. He intended to get Tang Yuehua back to the Clear Sky Sect today.
The Clear Sky Sect was only half a day's journey from here. He needed to send her back quickly so that he could return to Sunset Forest and search for the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. He had finally gotten the chance this time; if he failed to find it now, who knew when the next opportunity would come.
To be safe, after buying the carriage, he wrote a letter and placed it inside his Soul Tool.
When he returned to the inn, Tang Yuehua was already up. She sat by the window in a pale blue dress, sunlight spilling over her through the glass. At that moment, she looked like a celestial maiden descending from the heavens, making people unconsciously lose themselves in her beauty. The surrounding customers kept glancing in her direction, but no one dared approach.
Everyone knew that a Spirit King-level Spirit Master had come with her.
Great strength could prevent a great deal of trouble.
After breakfast, the two left the town in the carriage.
On the road to the Clear Sky Sect, Di Hong had nothing better to do, so he took out a book on medicinal herbs and began reading. Tang Yuehua, seated inside the carriage, watched him curiously.
"Are you interested in medicinal herbs?"
In her impression, few Spirit Masters enjoyed studying such things. To Spirit Masters, these matters were far less important than improving their strength. Only a small number liked researching them, such as Yang Wudi of the Breaking Clan, one of the Clear Sky Sect's affiliated Single Attribute Four Clans. He loved studying poisons and the like, nearly to the point of obsession.
"Not particularly. I just study them occasionally," Di Hong said indifferently. He was researching them purely for the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Otherwise, he could not be bothered to read any of this.
If he had been from Spirit Hall, he would not even need to read up on them. He could simply bring Yue Guan along. Others might not recognize them, but would Yue Guan not? His martial soul was the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum.
But Di Hong was not from Spirit Hall, so he could only go to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well himself. He absolutely could not let anyone else know.
Tang Yuehua did not ask further. She and Di Hong were not close enough to talk about everything.
The carriage left the town in the morning.
By the afternoon, they arrived at a place surrounded by mountain ranges.
Between the mountains stood a massive, castle-like structure. The building blocked the only entrance into the mountain range beyond, and from afar, it resembled a military fortress.
Above the enormous stone gates were three vigorous, powerful characters.
Clear Sky Sect.
"Peerless Battle Soul Hammer, towering Clear Sky Sect."
"This is the number one sect in the World. It truly is extraordinary."
Even from a distance, Di Hong could feel the oppressive aura emanating from the Clear Sky Sect. The Clear Sky Sect had not yet gone into seclusion, so it had been easy to find.
Tang Yuehua smiled beside him. "Let's go in. You saved me and escorted me back. I must properly thank you."
Faced with Tang Yuehua's invitation, Di Hong shook his head.
"No. I only escorted you because someone entrusted me to do so. I won't be entering the Clear Sky Sect."
"Now that I've brought you back safely, it's time for me to leave."
"How can that be?" Tang Yuehua grew anxious.
"Even if you were acting on someone else's request, you still saved me."
"Besides, even if no one had asked you to, would you not have saved me if you came across me?"
"Our Clear Sky Sect is not the sort to repay kindness with ingratitude."
Di Hong still had no intention of entering the Clear Sky Sect. After thinking for a moment, however, he took out the letter he had written from his Soul Tool and handed it to Tang Yuehua.
Tang Yuehua accepted the letter, somewhat puzzled.
"If you truly want to thank me, help me deliver this letter back to the Silves Kingdom."
"I still have matters to attend to. Farewell."
With that, he turned and left immediately. Before Tang Yuehua could say anything, she watched his retreating figure, and an involuntary wave of disappointment rose in her heart.
Suddenly, Di Hong came back.
Seeing him return, Tang Yuehua's disappointment vanished, replaced by delight.
"Are you coming with me to the Clear Sky Sect?"
"No." Di Hong shook his head.
Then, he took out the ashes of those deceased Clear Sky Sect disciples from his Soul Tool. He had only just left when he remembered that their ashes were still on him.
After taking out the ashes, he realized there were rather a lot of them. Looking again at Tang Yuehua's somewhat slender frame, he put the ashes back into his Soul Tool.
"This Soul Tool is yours. Otherwise, it wouldn't be convenient for you to carry the ashes around by yourself."
After placing the Soul Tool in Tang Yuehua's hand, he turned and left, leaving her standing there in a daze, a letter in one hand and the Soul Tool in the other, her expression utterly strange.
"Did he dislike going to the Clear Sky Sect that much?"
Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly remembered that Di Hong's clothes were still with her.
So, with the letter in one hand, the Soul Tool in the other, and Di Hong's clothes draped over her arm, she returned to the Clear Sky Sect. When the gatekeeping disciples saw that only Tang Yuehua had returned, they were stunned. After all, when Tang Yuehua had set off for Heaven Dou City, there had been nearly thirty people with her.
Why was she the only one back now?
One disciple went forward to receive her, while another hurried back to report the news.
Tang Yuehua's solitary return quickly alarmed the Clear Sky Sect. After she explained what had happened, everyone in the sect flew into a rage. The disciples clamored to tear down Spirit Hall, especially her Second Brother, Tang Hao. If not for her eldest brother Tang Xiao stopping him, he would likely have already gone to settle the score with Spirit Hall.
However, their father remained calm. Although everyone said Spirit Hall was responsible, he knew that this definitely was not Qian Daoliu's doing. It was most likely an unauthorized action by those below him. These days, Tang Chen, the Sect Master of the Clear Sky Sect, hardly involved himself in sect affairs, leaving all matters within the sect to him.
When Tang Yuehua further explained that Di Hong had saved her and escorted her back, he wanted to thank him. Unfortunately, Di Hong had already left, and there was no way to find him even if he wished to express his gratitude.
Di Hong's request naturally had to be fulfilled. After returning to the sect, Tang Yuehua arranged for someone to deliver the letter to the Silves Kingdom.
