Background / History
Di Hong was born as the fourth and youngest son of King Di Yuan of the Silves Kingdom. A transmigrator from Earth, he possessed foreknowledge of future events on the Douluo Continent and initially focused on ensuring his family's survival through personal strength rather than participating in succession politics 1 4.
At age six, his inherited family martial soul underwent a beneficial mutation into the Vermilion Bird. His Innate Level 20 Soul Power and talent domain were concealed from the public; the royal family announced only Innate Full Soul Power to protect him while strengthening confidence in the royal house 2.
After becoming strong enough to enter the Sunset Forest, Di Hong found the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and claimed it for himself and his family. Cultivation there elevated him to Soul Emperor and granted him immunity to both water and fire 23 25. He later discovered the remains and souls of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings beneath the well, seeing them as a possible path to godhood 127 128.
Di Hong gradually shifted from concentrating solely on cultivation to actively supporting the Di Family's long-term plan to take control of the Heaven Dou Empire. He recruited talents, cultivated Ge Long as an infiltrator, and helped develop an extensive network within the empire's military and administration 30 42 103 191. The family eventually seized Heaven Dou City and annexed imperial provinces, with Di Hong acting as a powerful enforcer and planner behind the expansion 239.
Appearance
Di Hong is a striking red-haired, red-eyed man whose appearance is closely associated with his fire-aligned martial soul and royal identity.
- Short fiery-red hair, later tied back in a crown-like style 1 8
- Ruby-like crimson pupils 1 8
- Wore ornate red robes embroidered with flame patterns as a child 1
- Reached approximately 1.75 meters tall by age twelve, making him appear much older than his age 7
- During Vermilion Bird Possession, manifests flaming wings, a blazing aura, and a large Vermilion Bird phantom 8 21
Personality
Di Hong is calm, pragmatic, and intensely goal-oriented. Though initially uninterested in ruling or noble intrigue, he learns to account for political surveillance, alliances, military power, and information networks after recognizing that cultivation alone cannot secure his family’s future 4 11 30.
He is protective of his family and capable of generosity, sharing herbs from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well with his relatives and taking in Ge Long after the border conflict 26 28. He also shows compassion toward refugees and offers assistance to Tang Yuehua and Dugu Bo, though his help often advances his own strategic interests 19 27 58.
As his ambitions grow, Di Hong becomes increasingly cold and calculating. He accepts the human cost of the Di Family’s annexation campaign as necessary and warns Tang Hao that he may kill Tang San if the latter confronts him while still weak 239.
