Background / History
Tang Xiao is Tang Wei's eldest son and the elder brother of Tang Hao and Tang Yuehua. He is fifteen years older than Tang Hao and is notably protective of Tang Yuehua despite her early inability to cultivate. 43
Although Tang Hao was named the Clear Sky Sect's successor because of his greater talent, Tang Xiao held no resentment. He considers himself more conservative than his younger brother, but better suited to preserving what the sect already possesses. 104
At the Soul Master Exchange Meet, Tang Xiao demonstrates his strength by effortlessly defeating a Level 68 Soul Emperor while at Level 70 himself. His performance establishes him as one of the Clear Sky Sect's foremost young talents and a future powerhouse. 50
Tang Xiao and Tang Hao later travel and train together. During their journey, they visit Sea God Island and encounter Sea God Douluo Bo Saixi; both brothers feel pressure from Di Hong's rapid growth. 85 Tang Xiao returns to the sect early and alone, while Tang Hao remains absent. 132
When Tang Hao shelters Ah Yin, a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast in human form, Tang Xiao accepts her identity rather than condemning her. He believes she had done no evil and respects the resolve required for a soul beast to abandon its prior cultivation and become human. 134
Following Tang Wei's death, Tang Xiao becomes Clear Sky Sect Master. He immediately seeks his Ninth Spirit Ring to stabilize the sect, returns as a Titled Douluo, and takes the title Howling Heaven. 136
Personality
Tang Xiao is family-oriented and selfless. He does not resent Tang Hao for surpassing him or being chosen as heir, and he remains determined to protect both Tang Hao and Tang Yuehua despite the political cost to the Clear Sky Sect. 104 136
He is also pragmatic about leadership. As Sect Master, he recognizes that the sect's internal divisions and external threats cannot be solved by sentiment alone, but he still refuses to abandon Tang Hao merely to placate Spirit Hall. 135 136
Toward Tang San, Tang Xiao is stern but compassionate. He tests Tang San's resolve, supports his attempt to return to the Clear Sky Sect, and makes clear that strength is necessary for Tang San to earn recognition from the elders. 204 205
