Ch. 41Malice from a Floor Master

Killua and Gon learned that Allen had deliberately avoided becoming a Floor Master, then watched as Valensa challenged Allen in the arena. Allen disparaged the Sky Arena’s fighters and prepared to defeat Valensa before leaving.

  • Killua and Gon overheard Wing reassure Zushi after Zushi used a powerful technique and vowed to keep training.
  • Killua and Gon registered for the two-hundredth floor and bought tickets to watch Allen’s match the next day.
  • Killua told Gon that Allen had won every match in substance, surrendering only when he held an overwhelming advantage to avoid becoming a Floor Master.
  • Killua and Gon met Wing and Zushi in the stands as Valensa and Allen entered the arena.
  • Valensa threatened Allen, who mocked the Floor Masters’ abilities and resolved to win ten matches and defeat a Floor Master before leaving.

Ch. 42Bloodline of an Ancient Alchemist

Allen fought Valensa, the Floor Master of the 224th floor, in a death match and discovered that Valensa’s ability let him conjure stones to control the four elements. Allen used his own power to turn Valensa’s water into scalding steam and then ice inside his lungs, leaving him close to death as Allen began explaining Valensa’s flaws.

  • Valensa agreed to a death match with Allen and attacked him with a fire dragon created using a red Philosopher’s Stone.
  • Allen dodged the fire dragon and threw five Mithril Arrowheads, which Valensa stopped with water spheres conjured from a white Philosopher’s Stone.
  • Valensa conjured cyan and brown Philosopher’s Stones to gain control over wind and earth, then revealed that he was the last heir of an ancient alchemist family.
  • Allen heated Valensa’s water spheres into steam, causing Valensa to inhale the vapor and collapse with severe lung injuries.
  • Allen turned the moisture inside Valensa’s lungs into ice and explained that Valensa’s comfortable life as a Floor Master had hindered his ability development.

Ch. 43Red Dragon's Advice

Allen defeated Valensa after he transformed into an Elemental Giant, and the Red Dragon devoured him under their Nen contract. The Red Dragon warned Allen that Elementalization was irreversible and suggested he create elemental puppets instead, leaving Allen eager to develop that ability and seek Nen powers in Conjuration and Manipulation.

  • Valensa swallowed all four Alchemy Stones and transformed into a magma-and-ice Elemental Giant, hoping to kill Allen and claim his Nen.
  • Allen explained that he deliberately encouraged opponents to strengthen their abilities before defeating them, then froze Valensa’s magma half and melted his ice half by changing the states of matter.
  • Valensa’s body collapsed, and Allen had the Red Dragon turn him into a cocoon and devour him.
  • The Red Dragon warned Allen that Elementalization was extremely dangerous and irreversible, advising him to create elemental puppets with Conjuration and Manipulation instead.
  • Allen considered using elemental materials and the Alchemy Stones to make elemental creatures, and decided he needed Conjuration- and Manipulation-type Nen abilities for reference.

Ch. 44An Undefendable Ability

Allen defeated Valensa and intimidated the other Sky Arena Floor Masters, while Wing explained to Zushi why Allen’s ability to control water molecules was nearly impossible to defend against. Gon and Killua sought out Allen to learn Nen, and they found him just as he announced he might leave Sky Arena to seek stronger opponents.

  • Wing explained to Zushi that Allen’s apparent control over water molecules could attack a person’s lungs and other organs by turning moisture into extreme heat or cold.
  • Gon and Killua decided to find Allen to learn more about Nen, then hurried to the contestants’ passage to intercept him.
  • More than a dozen Floor Masters surrounded Allen and Bodrō, but they backed down after Allen offered to accept two-on-one challenges.
  • Bodrō mocked the retreating Floor Masters, and Allen said he might leave Sky Arena to hunt for stronger targets.
  • Gon and Killua appeared and asked whether Allen was leaving; Killua saw Bodrō and struggled with shame over having killed him before.

Ch. 45A Favor

Gon and Killua asked Allen to teach them Nen, and he agreed in exchange for a favor from each of them. After teaching them Ten and explaining the gap between beginners and experienced Nen users, Allen arranged for Gon to face Bodrō in a practice match and told Killua to develop an ability before entering the ring.

  • Gon asked Allen to teach him Nen because he had seen Allen defeat the Floor Master.
  • Allen demanded that Gon and Killua each owe him a favor, and both agreed.
  • Allen opened their aura nodes and taught them Ten, then warned them that they were still far weaker than Illumi and Hisoka.
  • Gon announced that he wanted to fight a two-hundredth-floor fighter the next day, so Allen told Bodrō to register with him and give him a hard practice match.
  • Killua asked when he could fight, and Allen said he should wait about two weeks and develop a suitable ability.

Ch. 46Balance Equals Mediocrity

Gon lost his match against Bodrō and was hospitalized, while Allen explained that Bodrō’s balanced fighting style lacked a decisive Enhancement-type ability. Bodrō accepted the advice and forgave Killua, who promised to face him in the arena someday.

  • Bodrō overwhelmed Gon with his Nen techniques, and the referee ended the match after Gon passed out.
  • Allen told Bodrō that developing his auxiliary Nen types at the expense of Enhancement had left him without a powerful trump card.
  • Bodrō asked how to develop an Enhancement ability, and Allen advised him to turn his deepest desire into action through aura.
  • Killua learned that Gon had broken several ribs but was expected to recover, then apologized to Bodrō for his conduct during the Hunter Exam.
  • Bodrō forgave Killua and invited him to fight in the arena, and Killua accepted the challenge.

Ch. 47Long Time No See

After two months of training Gon and Killua graduated from Allen’s instruction, but Allen’s departure was interrupted when Hisoka and Illumi warned that he had been targeted for an ambush. Allen agreed to fight Hisoka the next day in exchange for learning who was behind the threat.

  • Gon and Bodrō developed their Nen abilities during the two months of training, while Killua practiced transforming his aura into electricity and Allen experimented with creating lightning.
  • Allen told Gon and Killua they had graduated, and Killua and Gon decided to stay at the Sky Arena and fight other two-hundredth-floor fighters.
  • As Allen left the training room, he encountered Hisoka, who challenged him to a match and offered to share important news.
  • Illumi appeared and warned Allen that he would likely be ambushed if he left the Sky Arena, but refused to explain who had targeted him.
  • Allen agreed to fight Hisoka the following day and asked to discuss the matter privately after the match.

Ch. 48War Begins

Allen learned that several Floor Masters planned to ambush him, and he decided to turn their plot into a war against them. As he prepared to gather ten victories and publicly challenge the Floor Masters, Hisoka looked forward to fighting him in the arena the next day.

  • Hisoka told Allen that several Floor Masters had joined forces to eliminate him, but Allen welcomed the threat and planned to hunt them outside Sky Arena.
  • Allen told Bodrō he would declare war with blood and death, then asked him to recruit five fighters from floors 190 through 199 and teach them Nen in exchange for matches.
  • Hisoka and Illumi discussed Allen’s greatly increased aura, which Hisoka suspected came from his Nen Beast devouring other people’s aura.
  • Hisoka told Illumi that he had developed his abilities and would reveal a dangerous trick in his match against Allen the next day.
  • Hisoka said Allen would not kill him, but his eyes showed anger and frustration at his own weakness.

Ch. 49Dancer

Allen faced Hisoka in the Sky Arena while learning that eighteen Floor Masters had joined an ambush plot against him. Their match began with Hisoka revealing new uses for Stretchable Love, leaving Allen impressed by his opponent’s unpredictable fighting style.

  • Illumi gave Allen a list of eighteen Floor Masters involved in an ambush plan, but Allen refused to investigate them and vowed to confront them with his animal companions.
  • Allen entered the arena and used Track Humanoid Creature to identify the Floor Masters watching him from the stands.
  • Hisoka told Allen he had devised new tactics and guessed that Allen’s lung-freezing ability was limited by his En range.
  • The referee started the match, and Allen charged at Hisoka with a supersonic punch.
  • Hisoka evaded with Stretchable Love, used its elasticity to launch a counterpunch, and began attacking with unpredictable, dance-like movements.

Ch. 50Have You Ever Been Hit by Sonic Fist?

Allen used his varied Nen abilities to overwhelm Hisoka in their Sky Arena fight, then ended the battle with a supersonic barrage of punches. Hisoka fell with only a little breath left, while Allen suffered heavy damage to his arms and body.

  • Hisoka praised Allen’s many Nen abilities and compared them to Chrollo’s ability to take others’ powers, prompting Allen to explain how Chrollo’s ability worked.
  • Allen revealed that Hisoka had secretly bound his limbs with Stretchable Love, but said he had noticed the trick from the start.
  • Allen activated the Alliance Insignia to remove Hisoka’s binding gum and declared that Hisoka could no longer match his strength.
  • Allen dodged Hisoka’s hidden strands of gum with abrupt changes in direction and closed to within half a meter of him.
  • Hisoka welcomed the attack, and Allen battered him with supersonic punches until he collapsed, nearly dead.
  • Allen lost more than six hundred health points from the strain of his attack and reflected on his need to digest the Life Essence strengthening his body.

Ch. 51New Ability

Hisoka awoke after Allen healed him and learned that Allen was preparing a hunt while Illumi agreed to block the way back to Sky Arena. Meanwhile, Allen experimented in the Dungeon and devised a new ability for creating and controlling elemental beings, then considered how Kortopi’s copying power could expand it.

  • Hisoka woke in the competitors' ward and confirmed that Allen’s potion had healed his injuries.
  • Illumi explained that he had promised to warn Allen before the Zoldyck Family accepted an assassination contract against him or someone close to him.
  • Hisoka concluded that Allen viewed the Floor Masters as nourishment and asked Illumi to block the road back to Sky Arena so he could watch the hunt.
  • Allen fused a Heart of Flame with a conjured Red Philosopher's Stone and began designing a controllable elemental creation ability.
  • Allen considered acquiring Kortopi’s God's Left Hand and Devil's Right Hand to duplicate Dungeon materials, and wondered whether processed copies would vanish after twenty-four hours.

Ch. 52Unseeable Reaper

Allen challenged Barros, the Floor Master of the 232nd floor, and forced him into a Nen contract that prevented him from surrendering. Allen began the match by summoning Execution Cross, while Barros responded with Unseeable Reaper.

  • Allen earned ten victories over two-plus weeks and challenged Barros to a match at the Sky Arena.
  • Allen explained that silence for twenty seconds after his wager question counted as acceptance, so Barros became bound to fight with all his Nen at stake.
  • Allen summoned Execution Cross and announced he would use only that ability against Barros.
  • Barros activated Unseeable Reaper, whose gaze could let him control his opponent's limbs or organs, and Allen turned away to avoid its eyes.

Ch. 53En

Allen countered Barros’s arena traps with perception-enhancement En and explained how Barros’s reliance on the arena limited his ability. After fulfilling the conditions to take Barros’s ability, Allen began executing him by driving four nails through his wrists and feet, then declared the execution had begun.

  • Allen used En to perceive the entire arena, avoid Barros’s Caltrops, and ignore the Unseeable Reaper by keeping his eyes closed.
  • Hisoka and Illumi praised Allen’s En, and Illumi explained the different types of En.
  • Allen told Barros that his arena-bound tactics and fear of the Execution Cross had left him unable to use his ability’s full potential.
  • Allen activated Aspect of the Cheetah, rushed Barros, and pierced his right wrist with a Nen nail.
  • Allen pierced Barros’s left wrist and both feet, then announced that the execution had begun.

Ch. 54Execution

Allen used his altered Execution Cross to put Barros on trial, execute him, and feed him to Red Dragon. He publicly challenged the other Floor Masters to meet him the next night, while they left determined to kill him.

  • Allen pinned Barros to the Execution Cross and summoned Codex, imposing rules that barred Barros from speaking or resisting.
  • Barros violated Allen’s order and had his tongue cut out, then Allen declared him guilty and pierced his chest with a spear.
  • Allen ordered Red Dragon to turn the dying Barros into a cocoon and devour him.
  • Allen announced a challenge to the Floor Masters for the following night, wagering their Nen in the woods outside the city.
  • The Floor Masters left in fury, resolved to kill Allen, while Allen told Red Dragon he planned to rely on card draws rather than seize abilities.

Ch. 55Full Firepower

Allen left the Sky Arena with Bodrō and went to confront more than a dozen Floor Masters, telling Killua not to join the fight. He unleashed his full power with his bow and rapidly slaughtered the Floor Masters, leaving the witnesses stunned by the strength he had hidden in the arena.

  • Allen declined Killua’s offer to help, explained that Floor Masters were not necessarily strong, and told him to focus on training with Gon.
  • Hisoka said he had hired Illumi to prevent the other Floor Masters from escaping and promised to watch Allen fight.
  • Allen and Bodrō rode to the designated location, where more than a dozen Floor Masters were waiting.
  • Allen summoned Lupos, equipped his gear, and fired supersonic arrows that immediately incapacitated four charging Floor Masters.
  • Red Dragon devoured some of the wounded Floor Masters as Allen drew cards and prepared to fire again.
  • Allen killed another four Floor Masters with Aim Shot and Multi-Shot, revealing the overwhelming power he had concealed in the arena.

Ch. 56Witnessing the Birth of a Monster

Allen slaughtered most of the Floor Masters with his enhanced arrows, traps, and allies, revealing a level of power that stunned the spectators. With the last five enemies intercepted, he left the final Floor Master to Bodrō, who prepared to prove himself with his new shields.

  • Allen used Supersonic Arrows, Lupos’s Phantom Wolves, and his traps to kill Floor Masters, bringing the death toll to twelve of the seventeen.
  • Wing told Zushi that they had witnessed the birth of a monster, as spectators watched Allen’s devastating attacks.
  • The five surviving Floor Masters fled, but Illumi stopped two, Hisoka blocked two, and Lupos and Bodrō cornered the last one.
  • Allen recalled Lupos and asked Bodrō to handle the remaining opponent; Bodrō equipped his Bone Fire shields and charged at the Floor Master.

Ch. 57Red Dragon Evolution

Bodrō defeated a Floor Master with his new shield ability, and Allen killed the remaining Floor Masters for Vilnalasath to devour. The Red Dragon evolved, revealed new combat forms, and urged Allen to provide stronger cocoons.

  • Bodrō used his life-bound Bone Fire shields to withstand the Floor Master’s Nen bullet and defeat him.
  • Allen praised Bodrō, killed the dying Floor Master, and had the Red Dragon turn him into a cocoon.
  • Allen observed the remaining Floor Masters’ abilities, then killed them one by one for the Red Dragon to devour.
  • After devouring the last cocoon, the Red Dragon unleashed a roar that devastated the area and named herself Vilnalasath.
  • Vilnalasath told Allen she could fight in her dragon form or possess him to grant him draconic powers, then vanished in the form of a High Elf loli.
  • Allen concluded that he would need to work as a bounty hunter to obtain stronger cocoons for Vilnalasath.

Ch. 58Proposal and Cooperation

After the Red Dragon evolved, Allen learned more about the Zoldyck Family’s limits and gave Illumi a healing potion. He then recruited Hisoka to help destroy the Phantom Troupe during their planned Yorknew City robbery.

  • Allen told Illumi that the Red Dragon had evolved after devouring enough cocoons, and Illumi warned that his family would raise Allen’s threat rating.
  • Illumi explained that the Zoldyck Family restricted its clients and targets to the underground and Nen worlds, then accepted Allen’s Special Healing Potion and offered to kill one person for him.
  • Allen asked Hisoka to help destroy the Phantom Troupe and promised they could each obtain what they wanted from the group.
  • Allen explained that the Troupe would gather in Yorknew City at the end of August and demonstrated how the Orb of Deception could disguise him as Hisoka.
  • Hisoka enthusiastically agreed to join Allen in wiping out the Phantom Troupe.

Ch. 59MT Training Plan

Allen recruited a specialist tracker to help him capture dangerous wanted criminals and spent five days training with Bodrō in high-level Dungeons. After Bodrō became a stronger teammate, Allen went to meet their new temporary member.

  • Allen struggled to locate suitable wanted criminals and decided to hire a professional tracker from the Hunter website.
  • A woman accepted Allen’s job on the condition that she would not participate in combat, and Allen sent her the hotel’s location.
  • Allen and Bodrō trained for fifty Dungeon days, practicing their teamwork against max-level Dungeons and testing Bodrō’s ability to tank bosses.
  • Allen hired a Conjuration Ability User to create a metal box that let Bodrō quickly equip his armor while keeping it concealed in public.
  • Bodrō returned from training in a Courage Set with greatly enhanced attributes and aura, and Allen praised him as a qualified teammate.
  • Allen and Bodrō headed to the hotel lobby to meet their temporary tracker.

Ch. 60Accidentally Becoming Famous

Allen hired Luna to track wanted criminals and received a map marking their locations, then set out with Bodrō to hunt the nearest target. Luna contacted her partner afterward and revealed that she had touched Allen, allowing her to track him.

  • Luna recognized Allen as the newly famous Divine Arrow, and Allen dismissed the nickname before asking her to locate wanted criminals.
  • Luna used her ability to mark the criminals on a map and explained that the tracking was precise because Allen greatly outmatched his targets.
  • Luna warned Allen that the tracking was two-way, so a target would receive the same map when Allen came within range.
  • Allen thanked Luna and left with Bodrō to hunt Zebrulon, the Ghoul, a criminal who preyed on young women.
  • After Allen left, Luna called her partner and excitedly disclosed that she had touched Allen and could track him.
