Background / History

Tang San was born through A Jing as the offspring of Tang Hao and an Abdominal Toad. His hybrid origin manifested in a monstrous toad-like appearance and became the source of his lifelong identity crisis. 129 350 351

As a child in Holy Soul Village, he was abused and neglected by A Jing, who blamed him for her abandonment. Tang San endured the violence while directing his hatred toward his absent father, believing Tang Hao was responsible for both his mother’s suffering and his cursed appearance. 146 166

He awakened a Toad Martial Soul with Innate Full Soul Power, alongside a second Martial Soul later identified as the Two-Headed Toad Hammer. Su Yuntao attempted to recruit him for the Martial Soul Hall, while Old Jack arranged his admission to Nuoding Academy. 168 169

After A Jing left behind letters directing him to Yu Xiao Gang, Tang San traveled to Nuoding Academy with Old Jack. Yu Xiao Gang expelled a gatekeeper who mocked Tang San, accepted him as a disciple, and became his adoptive father and cultivation mentor. 170 171

Tang San later learned that Abdominal Toads recognized him as their patriarch. Though he rejected the implication that he was a toad, he ultimately understood that he belonged to the Abdominal Toad clan. 350 351 353

Appearance

Tang San can assume a giant black-green toad form through Toad Possession. His body produces foul-smelling mucus, saliva, and pus, making his presence physically repulsive to most people. 175 190 207

  • Bulging eyes and puffing cheeks in Toad Possession. 175
  • Long black-green tongue with small barbs. 176
  • Body coated in slippery mucus that can prevent vines and thorns from restraining him. 175
  • Pustules and pores on his back capable of spraying corrosive pus. 190 207
  • Lost his right hand and later his legs during attempts to steal the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud. 295 298
  • His second Martial Soul is a black-green hammer with a toad head at each end. 250

Personality

Tang San is highly resentful toward those who mock, reject, or humiliate him. He repeatedly interprets ridicule as a mortal offense and responds with killing intent, particularly toward Tang Hao, Feng Xiaotian, Zhao Wuji, and other perceived enemies. 166 170 248 372

He is cautious and calculating when vulnerable, crafting hidden weapons for protection and withholding information until he believes it benefits him. However, he is also impulsive: he bid one billion Gold Soul Coins for the Mysterious Water Pill and repeatedly pursued dangerous opportunities for power. 170 240

Tang San views suffering as evidence of his destiny, eventually declaring himself the “Son of Destiny” and treating even Yu Xiao Gang as a trial he must endure to gain Godhood. 279

His pursuit of power becomes increasingly ruthless. He poisons the Clear Sky Sect, orders the slaughter of Abdominal Toads for his God Examination, and ultimately kills Yu Xiao Gang without remorse. 362 372 391
