Background / History

Tsunade is the granddaughter of Hashirama Senju and Uzumaki Mito. Raised with the status of Konoha’s princess, she was doted on by Hashirama, Tobirama, and Mito before becoming one of Hiruzen Sarutobi’s students alongside Jiraiya and Orochimaru. 161 244

She developed her own path around Medical Ninjutsu and Monster Strength rather than relying solely on her heritage. During Konoha’s earlier conflicts, her medical expertise helped the village through repeated crises. She also proposed forming dedicated Medical Ninja units so every squad would have healing support, though the plan was not approved. 71 244

Although Tsunade left Konoha in disgust at its higher-ups’ hypocrisy and abuses, she never abandoned her commitment to the village. Orochimaru’s human experimentation was particularly unacceptable to her as a medical ninja. 176

By the time Naruto located her in Tanzaku Town, Tsunade was travelling with Shizune and Tonton while accumulating gambling debts in casinos. Her gambling obsession does not erase her professionalism or loyalty. She is deeply protective of Konoha, distrusts actions that endanger it, and views human experimentation as morally unacceptable. 176
