Cityscape and Landmarks

Spirit City is a Soul Master-only city built around a mountain at its center. Its comparatively small population and restricted entry distinguish it from the more commercially prosperous Heaven Dou City. Strength and rank within Spirit Hall carry more weight here than money. 80 82

• Central mountain — The city’s defining geographical feature and the site of Spirit Hall’s highest institutions. 80
• Papal Palace — Located halfway up the central mountain; serves as Spirit Hall’s highest governing institution and the Pope’s seat. 80
• Douluo Hall — Said to stand at the mountain’s summit. 80
• Grand Finals arena — A dedicated granite arena at the city center, one hundred meters in diameter and reinforced by Soul Tools against attacks below Soul Emperor level. 83
• Spirit Hall heritage vault — A subterranean repository beneath Pope Mountain containing Spirit Hall’s accumulated inheritance and numerous unusual Soul Power fluctuations. 91

Administration and Security

• Soul Master restriction — Only Soul Masters are permitted to enter Spirit City. Shi Yi estimates that, after accounting for personnel stationed elsewhere, the city may hold only thirty to forty thousand people. 82
• Papal Palace guards — Hall Guardian Knights in silver armor protect the Papal Palace and may kill unauthorized intruders. They recognize the six-symbol Elder token. 80
• Papal authority — The Pope is regarded as the highest faith of the city’s Soul Masters; the city answers her arrival with public acclamation. 87
• Wartime defense — During the continental war, the city enters martial law, with patrols on the walls and flying Soul Masters in the air. The Angel Legion enforces restrictions against aerial approaches. 161

History

Before the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament’s Grand Finals, Yu Xiaogang brought Shi Yi to Spirit City to seek Bibi Dong’s protection for him. They entered through Soul Master inspection and proceeded directly to the Papal Palace, where Yu Xiaogang used his Elder token to request an audience with the Pope. 80

The city hosted the Grand Finals of the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. Competing teams from both great empires arrived there, and Spirit Hall opened its central reinforced arena specifically for the event. 81 83

After completing his initial journey through the City of Slaughter, Shi Yi returned to Spirit City under Bibi Dong’s protection. Zhu Zhuqing prepared a courtyard there for them, making the city his principal residence. 105 106

As conflict escalated between Spirit Hall, Heaven Dou, and Star Luo, Spirit City became a militarized command center. Bibi Dong convened leaders of the seven sects and high-ranking bishops there to address the war. 161

Following the Spirit Hall Empire’s victory and the continent’s unification under Bibi Dong, Spirit City became the empire’s capital. One year later, it hosted a citywide celebration and grand wedding. 169
