Fang Jiayu was born into the Fang family, whose members inherit the Forbidden Eye bloodline. Because neither he nor his father, Fang Yan, initially awakened this inheritance, their line was expelled under clan rules; his engagement to Jiang Ling’er was consequently dissolved. The failure to awaken the bloodline became both his personal burden and his father’s obsession. 133 160

As the young commander of the Fang forces, he led a campaign against Ning Tian City. He opposed Emperor Shitian’s regime because its elite soldiers were frequently forced to use enhancement armor that permanently fused with and damaged their bodies. 123 124

He encountered Han Fei during this campaign, saving him from Ning Tian City’s golden-armored Grand Commander and bringing him to the Fang encampment. Although Fang Jiayu’s officers suspected Han Fei of espionage, Fang Jiayu trusted his own judgment and treated him as a potential friend. 123 124
