Background
Qing Su was an orphan adopted by the Myriad Cloud Sect as an infant. She began studying Daoist scriptures at three and entered prolonged closed-door cultivation around seven or eight due to her exceptional talent and comprehension. Colorful Cloud Peak raised her almost entirely for cultivation, leaving her skilled chiefly in cultivation and combat but unfamiliar with ordinary social conventions and daily life 29.
She cultivates the Pure Heart Dao. Her seeming coldness is described not as arrogance, but as a selfless, unworldly nature: she does not rely on her status, speaks simply, and follows her genuine inclinations 24.
During an expedition to ancient ruins on the Eastern Sea coast, Qing Su obtained an unidentified great treasure. She was badly wounded while fleeing Treasure-Hunting Immortals, whose pursuit injured over a hundred Myriad Cloud Sect disciples in the Linzheng Immortal Dynasty 23. Li Ping'an, Wei Yanzi, and Chen Gongmin sheltered her, erased their trail, and led her back to the sect 23 24.
Afterward, Qing Su accepted Li Ping'an as her disciple, formally marking his identity jade slip with her name and giving him the Myriad Cloud Sect's core cultivation materials 27.
Appearance
Qing Su is a tall, slender immortal with long black hair and an unadorned, clear-featured face. Her presence is frequently compared to ice: beautiful and pure, but difficult for strangers to approach 24 58.
- Often wears an ice-blue, silver-white, or white immortal dress 41 58 244.
- Keeps her dark hair loosely flowing or gathered into a simple bun 58 73.
- Has a naturally clear and lively gaze despite her restrained demeanor 38.
- Her immortal light is icy blue, matching her Cloud Ice cultivation 78.
Personality
Qing Su is straightforward, earnest, and unusually detached from worldly concerns. She has little instinct for social maneuvering, flirtation, or political subtlety; when Li Ping'an first asks for help finding a master, she simply says she needs to consider it rather than responding to his hints 24. Her Pure Heart Dao leaves her sincere rather than emotionally absent.
She is intensely protective of Li Ping'an. She shields him from unwanted elders, reassures him before dangerous matches, and openly states that an opponent's master cannot defeat her 38 41. Her protectiveness persists even after Li Ping'an surpasses her in influence and combat resources.
Although initially inexperienced with ordinary life, she gradually develops more warmth and humor. She learns to cook hot pot, appreciates food and travel, and recognizes that following Li Ping'an on expeditions offers more opportunities than secluded meditation 58 143 170.
