History

The Ancient Heavenly Court was overthrown after the human race's war against the Demon Race. Its destruction severed the Heavenly Dao's primary connection to Heaven and Earth, leaving the world without a central institution of order. Li Ping'an and Mo Linyuan describe the new Heavenly Court as the means by which the Heavenly Dao could again regulate the relationship between sentient beings and Heaven and Earth. 59 192

Li Ping'an became the quasi-Heavenly Emperor by invoking the Heavenly Dao through a Great Vow. The new Court initially existed only as a Heavenly Dao-recognized sequence and an accumulating set of divine authorities, rather than as a physical institution. 219 222 Its founders then held development conferences, recruited officials, built an intelligence network through Tianfang Pavilion, and gathered incense offerings from small worlds and Heavenly Emperor Temples. 235 236 238

The threat posed by the Southern Continent Divine Court accelerated the Court's founding. Li Ping'an concluded that he needed to stabilize his own Heavenly Dao sequence and fill the divine positions before confronting a rival divine order supported by Southern Continent incense and merit. 321 440 441 At the Nine Heavens, he completed the Heavenly Emperor Seal, established Lingxiao Hall and the thirty-six halls, and formally proclaimed the Heavenly Court. 445

After its establishment, the Court developed into the central power of the Primordial Era. It brought the Dragon Race into its camp, incorporated selected Southern Continent spirits, expanded across the Three Thousand Worlds, and prepared to oversee the Investiture of the Gods through a new competitive system. 432 561 640

Mandate

The Heavenly Court was founded to protect living beings, establish a new order, and extend the lifespan of the Primordial World by completing the Heavenly Dao and addressing threats such as innate gods and demons. 447 572
