History

The Myriad Cloud Sect had endured for more than sixty thousand years by the time of Li Dazhi's discussion with Sect Master Yun Mo. Ten thousand years earlier, it suffered a severe internal crisis: its fifty-four peaks could no longer financially support their growing immortal populations, leading to internal strife. Three Golden Immortal Ancestors returned, suppressed the chaos, executed several old Heavenly Immortals, and reduced the sect to thirty-six peaks. Its standing in the Eastern Continent fell from among the eight great sects to the teens. 34

Yun Mo assumed the sect mastership amid that crisis and led the sect's recovery for ten thousand years. His establishment of the Outer Sect created a hierarchy for allocating resources by aptitude while giving less-promising disciples productive duties, allowing the sect to sustain a large membership. 34

Li Ping'an entered the sect through Flowing Cloud Temple, where Wei Yanzi provided him with the foundational chant and Visualization Diagram of its cultivation lineage. Peaks and factions

Before its merger, the sect possessed thirty-six main peaks, corresponding to thirty-six major and minor Dao lineages and factions. The sect master's lineage was the strongest; Daoist Master Kongming served as its patriarch, and the other Golden Immortal Ancestors were broadly connected to it. 6

Myriad Cloud Art
