Background / History
Poison Backlash and Yu Xiaowei’s Treatment
Dugu Bo initially owns the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well in Sunset Forest. Despite spending his life cultivating poison, he has suffered poisoning from his own cultivation for decades. He knows that dispersing his poison cultivation would detoxify him, but refuses to sacrifice it 3 5.
He meets Yu Xiaowei after the boy saves Dugu Yan from a 4,500-year-old King of the Earth. In repayment, he agrees to provide a treasure and takes him to the well. There, Yu Xiaowei’s Nuclear Radiation Domain unexpectedly relieves Dugu Bo’s chronic symptoms, turning their tense encounter into a treatment arrangement paid for with medicinal herbs 3 4 5.
The treatment also causes his hair to fall out. Their initial schedule allows one treatment every seven days, since excessive radiation is harmful. Later, Dugu Bo agrees to settle a three-million-Gold Soul Coin debt with five Immortal Herbs and protects Ning Rongrong while she absorbs the Aromatic Silk Beauty 11 13.
First Evolution and Clan Recruitment
Continued radiation exposure mutates his Martial Soul into the Jade Phosphor True Dragon and raises him to level 92. Freed from his internal poison and the serpent form’s vulnerability to true dragons, he immediately wants revenge against Yue Guan. His celebration is interrupted when he discovers that the new dragon form has no teeth 26 27.
His improved strength allows him to decisively defeat Salas, who had previously fought him on roughly equal terms. After learning that Salas targeted Yu Xiaowei and Ning Rongrong for coercive recruitment, Dugu Bo petrifies him in a kneeling position and deposits him at Heaven Dou City’s gate 30.
Having offered Yu Xiaowei three wishes in gratitude for treatment, Dugu Bo agrees to surrender his medicinal herbs and teach at Blue Tyrant Academy. He initially rejects the teaching position because it would restrict his freedom, but relents after Yu Xiaowei and Liu Erlong persist. He subsequently joins the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan as a Guest Elder 14 31 32.
Snow Swan Kiss and Ghidorah
Although his first evolution greatly strengthens his body, Dugu Bo remains dissatisfied with poison that other Titled Douluo do not fear. He chooses to absorb the Snow Swan Kiss despite its potentially fatal effects, making inheritance arrangements with Yu Xiaowei beforehand 65 66.
During the ordeal, he attempts to suppress the amplified toxins with the Ice and Fire spring. The three energies erupt within him, and he falls into the water. He survives with a rejuvenated body, level-93 Soul Power, and a three-headed dragon Martial Soul. He accepts Yu Xiaowei’s suggested name, “Ghidorah,” and adopts the title Ghidorah Douluo 67.
Dugu Bo helps capture Xiao Wu during the operation against Tang Hao. He becomes so absorbed in a staged confrontation that he genuinely attacks Yu Yuanzhen, earning an angry reprimand once Tang Hao has escaped 75.
Building the Dugu Family
After moving his household into the Yu Clan’s territory, Dugu Bo takes three concubines, one of whom belongs to the Yu Clan. Dugu Yan initially refuses to speak to him, but eventually forgives him after his explanations. His stated ambition is to establish a powerful Dugu Family with King Ghidorah as its inherited Martial Soul 94.
He agrees to protect “Yu Xiaoxue” during her marriage-alliance journey to the Clear Sky Sect. The supposed Yu Xiaoxue is actually Qian Renxue in disguise. Dugu Bo kills the two Titled Douluo involved in taking her away—Ci Xue and Snake Lance—but she escapes 94 96 97 105.
By the later poisoning crisis, he has three new children and considers the future Ghidorah family to be taking shape 143.
Revenge Against Yue Guan
After half a year of practice and frequent sparring with Yu Yuanzhen, Dugu Bo becomes proficient with Ghidorah’s explosive attacks. He overwhelms Yue Guan in a planned confrontation, but cannot handle Yue Guan and Gui Mei together. Yu Yuanzhen, Chen Xin, Gu Rong, and Ning Fengzhi intervene, enabling the group to defeat both Spirit Hall elders 105.
Dugu Bo administers Ice and Fire Dual Heavens to the defeated pair and uses its remotely controlled effects to force Yue Guan’s cooperation. The confrontation supports Yu Xiaowei’s plan to blame Spirit Hall for abducting Ah Yin and obtaining her Hundred Thousand Year Soul Bone 105 106.
When Qian Jun and Jiangmo ambush him, Dugu Bo suffers serious injuries and deliberately leads them toward the Clear Sky Sect’s mountain gate. Tang Xiao intervenes after the pursuers damage the gate; the sect also owes Dugu Bo for previously saving Tang Lieyang. After receiving healing, Dugu Bo returns to Heaven Dou City. A Dragon Blood Fruit intended for his future son is his reward for accepting the dangerous mission 110 112.
Poisoning Crisis
Yu Xiaowei’s claim that Qian Renxue has been poisoned with Dugu Bo’s strongest toxin makes Dugu Bo a target of Spirit Hall. Qian Daoliu personally demands an antidote and orders him to accompany him to Spirit Hall. Dugu Bo hands over the antidote to Ice and Fire Dual Heavens, unaware that Yu Xiaowei’s original poisoning claim was false 136 143 144.
At the same time, the returning academy members require treatment for Tang San’s Jade Fragrance poison. Dugu Bo examines their blood and recommends the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to suppress the toxin. Bibi Dong then attacks the clan and captures him, but remains there after Chen Xin insists that only Yu Xiaowei can resolve Qian Renxue’s condition 139 144.
Dugu Bo develops only a temporary suppressive antidote for the unfamiliar Tang Sect poison. Yu Xiaowei recruits Yang Wudi, whose collaboration significantly accelerates their antidote research 145 149.
At his latest documented appearance, Dugu Bo celebrates Yu Xiaowei’s ascension to godhood and delights in being related to a god through Dugu Yan’s marriage to Yu Tianheng 221.
Appearance
Dugu Bo first appears as an old man with messy green hair and a fierce, baleful aura. Radiation treatment leaves him bald, while his later Ghidorah evolution restores his hair and rejuvenates him enough that Yue Guan remarks on his youthful vitality 3 11 30 68 105.
- Jade Phosphor True Dragon: Antlers, four claws, enlarged spiked scales, and a mane along its tail; notably lacks teeth 26 27.
- King Ghidorah: A three-headed dragon whose heads breathe fire, poisonous mist, and frigid air. Its Martial Soul Avatar has wings 68 110.
- Petrification attack: His eyes turn white before releasing the beams used to petrify Salas 30.
Personality
Dugu Bo’s cold, threatening manner changes immediately around Dugu Yan. He values her safety above his treasures, furiously investigates her injuries, and repeatedly opposes attempts to recruit her into Spirit Hall 3 30.
He prizes independence and resists permanent obligations. He previously refused Spirit Hall’s recruitment and accepted only an idle advisory role with the Heaven Dou Imperial Family. Nevertheless, he keeps his promises, teaches seriously once committed, and takes dangerous assignments for the future of his family 31 33 112.
Poison is both his greatest pride and the source of his deepest humiliation. Being dismissed as the weakest Titled Douluo drives his willingness to risk the Snow Swan Kiss. Once his strength improves, he becomes gleefully vindictive toward old enemies, especially Yue Guan, but remains aware that killing Spirit Hall elders could bring relentless retaliation 66 106.
His bravado has practical limits. He recognizes that confronting Qian Daoliu is hopeless, even with the combined strength of both allied sects, and refuses to charge into a fight he cannot influence 143 151.
Abilities & Skills
King Ghidorah Martial Soul
- Three elemental breaths: Separate heads release flames, poisonous mist, and frigid air 68.
- Powerful physique: Its attack and defense are comparable to Godzilla’s when Dugu Bo’s Titled Douluo Soul Power enhancement is excluded 68.
- Flight: His dragon Martial Soul Avatar enables aerial travel and escape 30 110 112.
- Reusable Avatar: The first dragon mutation removes the normal weakened period after Martial Soul Avatar ends; he can use it again once his Soul Power recovers 27.
- Remaining suppression: Even after becoming a true dragon, he remains subject to Godzilla’s Martial Soul suppression 68.
Poison Arts
- Soul Power poisoning: Snow Swan Kiss amplification allows his poison to affect Soul Power itself, making even Super Douluo reluctant to touch it 68.
- Poison formations: Protects the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well against ordinary intruders and prepares layered formations for planned battles 33 105.
- Learning requirement: His poison arts require a poison-attribute Martial Soul; Qian Renxue’s Angel Martial Soul cannot learn them 147.
- Earlier limitations: His serpent venom was ineffective against many fellow Titled Douluo. Salas’s honey-badger Martial Soul was immune to snake venom, while Yue Guan’s Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum also countered it 30 65 105.
Ice, Fire, and Poison “Art”
At Yu Xiaowei’s suggestion, Dugu Bo combines his three attributes into a versatile explosive fighting method 68.
- Applications: Poison fire, poison clouds, explosive poison mist, and Ice and Fire Dual Heavens 68.
- Variable output: Different distributions of Soul Power produce different combinations and effects 68.
- Enhancement stacking: Uses his first, second, fifth, and sixth Soul Rings together to amplify a three-element attack against Yue Guan 105.
- Combat estimate: Yu Xiaowei initially places his sparring strength between levels 94 and 95, with a possible lethal advantage against a level-95 Titled Douluo not specializing in defense 68.
- Practical limit: Despite gaining the upper hand against Yue Guan, he cannot independently contend with two level-95 Titled Douluo 105.
Ice and Fire Dual Heavens
- Effects: Causes alternating extreme heat and frost severe enough to incapacitate Yue Guan and Gui Mei 106.
- Remote activation: Dugu Bo controls its effects through Spiritual Power, using finger snaps to trigger renewed attacks 106.
- Strongest delivery: Must be swallowed to achieve its greatest effect 106.
- Removal difficulty: Qian Daoliu cannot safely eliminate the mixed poison by force because it devours Soul Power and the victim’s body would not withstand the process 108.
- Countermeasure: A golden dagger supplied through Qian Daoliu interrupts Dugu Bo’s connection to the poison inside Yue Guan 110.
Medusa’s Gaze
- Petrification: His Medusa Soul Bone allows him to petrify both targets and Soul Power 70.
- Defensive use: Previously enabled him to escape Yue Guan when their confrontations became lethal 70.
- Documented target: Turns Salas into a stone statue with beams fired from his eyes 30.
Water-and-Fire Resistance
- Origin: Forged during his survival in the Ice and Fire spring 67.
- Protection: His own water and fire attacks cannot penetrate his defenses during testing 68.
- Limits: The immunity is not absolute; Yu Xiaowei’s Atomic Breath slightly injures him because of Martial Soul suppression 68.
Poison Research and Teaching
- Diagnosis: Recognizes Jade Fragrance as an unusual toxin that grows stronger over time and compares its developed toxicity to Ice and Fire Dual Heavens 144.
- Treatment limits: Cannot decipher the unfamiliar Tang Sect preparation method alone; initially produces only temporary suppression 145.
- Collaboration: Makes substantially faster progress alongside Yang Wudi 149.
- Instruction: Teaches three classes per week covering Soul Ring pairing, combat Soul Power management, and breakthrough experience without withholding his knowledge 33.

Trivia
- Before settling on Ghidorah, he proposes the name “Ice and Fire Poison Dragon”; Yu Xiaowei considers it too perfunctory 67.
- Learns the middle-finger gesture from Yu Xiaowei and adopts it to provoke opponents without understanding its precise meaning 106.
- His former reputation becomes a joking benchmark for weakness: an enemy level-91 Titled Douluo is dismissed as someone who “couldn't even defeat Dugu Bo” 27.
