Background / History

Leslie was the second son of the Oroko Family patriarch and a contender in the family’s succession struggle against his elder brother, Cyril Oroko. Before meeting Roland, he had expanded the family’s merchant caravans through new trade routes and accumulated support from Oroko elders, though his reputation was poor and his methods could be disruptive. He was also president of the Sky Chamber of Commerce, an honorary member of Highland City’s council, and second in line to inherit the Oroko Family. 22 89

He investigated Roland before approaching him, then offered friendship, protection, supplies, and an alchemy-trade contract. Leslie’s early support—including resources, personnel, loans, information, and connections—was central to Roland’s establishment and survival in the Sea of Ten Thousand Islands. 22 23 36

Afterward, Leslie joined Roland’s territory and became its Grand Chancellor. He transferred Luke and Dwight, his two Earth Warrior guards, to Roland as a sign of trust, revealed a hidden merchant fleet, and took charge of financial and administrative affairs. 161 162
