Background / History

The Adeptus Mechanicus' technological authority derives from an agreement personally signed between the Emperor and Mars. It produces and maintains Imperial weaponry and equipment, while the wider Imperium depends on its approval and personnel for technological work. Its monopoly became even stronger after the Martian civil war during the Horus Heresy. 33 57

The organization is inseparable from the Imperium but does not necessarily share its priorities. Its Tech-Priests are depicted as willing to pursue their own technological goals regardless of Imperial losses, especially when rare machinery or ancient artifacts are at stake. 24 244

Doctrine and Customs

The Adeptus Mechanicus worships the Omnissiah and treats machinery as sacred. Its doctrine holds that all machines possess Machine Spirits which must be maintained, appeased, and blessed. 189 192
