Ronan is a transmigrator who retained knowledge of One Piece from his previous life. Born into a martial-arts family, he had practiced Xingyi Thirteen Spears for twenty years before awakening in an unfamiliar world with a stronger body and the Perseverance System. 1

Upon recognizing Zoro, Luffy, and Nami, he identifies the era as the Straw Hats' earliest days and judges that joining them will give him reliable allies while he develops his system-backed martial arts. 4
