Background / History
Di Jun was born from the Sun Star alongside his brothers Taiyi and Xuan Yang. Initially, he and Taiyi intended to seek dominance and become rulers of heaven and earth, though Di Jun remained more measured than Taiyi and refused to let their disagreement with Xuan Yang damage their brotherhood. 1
After the Dragon, Phoenix, and Kirin tribes fell as Xuan Yang’s diary predicted, Di Jun accepted that his third brother’s foresight exceeded his own. He and Taiyi abandoned their original pursuit of hegemony and began consulting the diary before making major decisions. 3 4
Di Jun and Taiyi discovered that purifying the Primordial World’s malevolent energy earned Heavenly Dao Merit. They traveled extensively to cleanse such energy, then used the accumulated Merit to advance their cultivation. 7
During the Dao-Demon conflict at Mount Sumeru, Di Jun restrained Taiyi from pursuing Luohu’s fleeing remnant soul, recognizing that Hongjun’s inaction indicated a hidden danger. Their caution allowed them to survive Luohu’s detonation of the Western Earth Veins. 10
Di Jun later claimed the sixth special cushion in the Purple Firmament Palace. He and Taiyi also found the damaged Universe Cauldron and Yin Yang Mirror after the Mount Sumeru battle, taking treasures Hongjun had intended to obtain. 11 12 18
Hongjun subsequently enfeoffed Di Jun as Demon Emperor and ordered the three Golden Crow brothers to establish the Demon Race and Demon Court. Di Jun initially resisted being pushed into Hongjun’s scheme, but ultimately joined Taiyi and Xuan Yang in establishing the Demon Court near the Sun Star. 47 51 246
Personality
Di Jun is calm, prudent, and notably more diplomatic than Taiyi. Even when Taiyi was angered by Xuan Yang’s lack of interest in rulership, Di Jun insisted that each brother could follow his own aspirations without harming their bond. 1
He is strategic under pressure. At Mount Sumeru, he recognized the danger in chasing Luohu; against Yuanshi, he relied on his formations and allies rather than allowing the conflict to be decided on unfavorable terms. 10 131
Despite receiving reverence from newly transformed beings, Di Jun refuses to claim the title of “Dao Ancestor,” fearing both its implications and Hongjun’s reaction. He presents his teachings as a matter of fate rather than a debt others must repay. 34 187
Di Jun is deeply protective of Xuan Yang and the people close to him. He and Taiyi covertly arranged Demon Sages and soldiers to safeguard the Human Race, viewing any threat to Xuan Yang’s plans as unacceptable. 92
