Background

Taiyi was born from the essence of the Sun Star alongside his brothers Di Jun and Xuan Yang. Initially, he believed the Golden Crow brothers possessed imperial destinies and should contend for rulership over heaven and earth; he viewed Xuan Yang’s preference for quiet cultivation and avoiding karma as a lack of ambition 1.

Xuan Yang’s diary changed his outlook. Taiyi and Di Jun watched the Dragon, Phoenix, and Kirin clans decline exactly as Xuan Yang had predicted, leading Taiyi to recognize his third brother’s foresight and reconsider the path of domination 2 3. The two brothers instead purified the malevolent energy left by the Three Clans’ war for merit, using the Chaos Bell and the River Diagram and Luo Book to cleanse an entire region over 3,000 years 4.

During the conflict surrounding Luohu, Taiyi wanted to pursue an opportunity but accepted Di Jun’s warning that Luohu still had contingencies. Afterward, the brothers recovered the damaged Universe Cauldron and Yin Yang Mirror before Hongjun could claim them 10 11 12.

A Heavenly Dao Edict later appointed Di Jun as Demon Emperor, Taiyi as East Emperor, and Xuan Yang as West Emperor, ordering them to establish the Demon Race and its court within one kalpa 14. Taiyi subsequently helped secure resources for their side, including racing Di Jun, Nuwa, and Fuxi to the Treasure Distribution Rock in his Three-Legged Golden Crow form 72.

Having learned the importance of the Human Race from Xuan Yang’s diary, Taiyi and Di Jun stationed Demon Sages and soldiers to covertly guard humanity. Taiyi also proposed having Tongtian’s Sword and Formation paths taught among humans to further strengthen the Human Path 92 135.

After refining Pangu’s Essence Blood, Taiyi chose to pursue merit by entering reincarnation. He severed a spirit embodying his obsessions and fighting spirit, which Nuwa invested with the destiny of the third Human Emperor through the Kongtong Seal. This reincarnated spirit became Xuanyuan 198 328.

Taiyi’s true form is a Three-Legged Golden Crow. When he appears beside the Six Paths of Reincarnation, his restrained Golden Crow Divine Fire still radiates a pressure described as capable of scorching the heavens and boiling the seas 72 328.

He initially disparaged East King Duke openly, while Di Jun preferred to hide his own dissatisfaction and assess the situation more carefully 7. When he believes his allies have been offended, Taiyi favors immediate force over negotiation; against Zhunti and Jieyin, his response was simply to attack with the Chaos Bell 119.

Despite his pride, Taiyi is not stubborn in the face of proof. Xuan Yang’s fulfilled predictions made him sincerely admire his younger brother and abandon his earlier certainty that competing for heaven and earth was the proper path 3 4. He is deeply loyal to his brothers, supports Xuan Yang’s plans even when their purpose is unclear, and accepts the hardships of reincarnation as a worthwhile price for proving his Dao 30 328.
