• Goku recognized the masked fifth warrior as Grandpa, who had returned from the underworld for one day but chose not to be revived.
• Emperor Pilaf fled with the final Dragon Ball, but He-El found it in Pilaf’s indestructible box and wished for all the knowledge Shenron could provide.
• He-El absorbed Shenron’s knowledge into his Adaptive Body, which began generating Ki instinctively and raised his battle power.
• Fortune Teller Baba warned Master Roshi that He-El would become a Cosmic Emperor, but He-El said the vision likely showed a parallel-universe version of him.

He-El trained at Kami’s Lookout, prepared Earth for the threat posed by his evil duplicate, and turned King Piccolo’s release into practical training for Goku and the others. He left Piccolo Jr. in training, rebuilt the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and prepared for the approaching Twenty-Second World Martial Arts Tournament.

• He-El brought Goku to Kami’s Lookout, defeated Mr. Popo, won Kami’s trust, and entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to train against the coming threat.
• He-El’s uncontrolled Ki shook Earth, so he stabilized the damage and worked with Korin, Bulma, and Dr. Briefs to restore Korin Tower and increase Senzu Bean production.
• After Kami sensed King Piccolo’s release, He-El took Goku, Yamcha, and Krillin to confront him and had the group fight as practical training.
• King Piccolo defeated Yamcha and Krillin before Goku fought him, and He-El restored King Piccolo’s youth with the Dragon Balls so the fighters could challenge him again.
• He-El subdued King Piccolo and forced him to produce an egg before he died, then persuaded Kami to let Piccolo Jr. hatch and train alongside Goku and the others.
• He-El had Kami provide the Hyperbolic Time Chamber blueprints, then rebuilt the chamber with Bulma and Dr. Briefs to remove its time limit and add adjustable gravity and outside communication.

He-El helped guide the Twenty-Second World Martial Arts Tournament, where Goku defeated Piccolo and claimed the championship. After preparing Earth’s fighters for future alien threats, He-El left to meet King Kai and seek knowledge that could advance his plans.

• He-El brought Master Roshi and the others to Papaya Island, where he met Tien Shinhan and urged him to enter the tournament.
• Goku, Krillin, Yamcha, Puar, and Piccolo advanced through the preliminary matches, while He-El restored the bodies of the Crane Hermit and Tao Bai Bai for Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu to bury.
• Piccolo defeated Krillin, and Goku defeated Bababu to reach the final against Piccolo.
• Goku defeated Piccolo in the final and won the Twenty-Second World Martial Arts Tournament.
• Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu joined He-El’s group, and He-El trained them and the others before spending 365 years in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
• He-El told Kami that Frieza would destroy Planet Namek and promised to help the Namekians, then asked Bulma and Dr. Briefs to repair a spaceship so he could leave Earth.

He-El and Bulma traveled through endangered worlds before reaching Planet Namek, where He-El warned the Namekians of a future invasion and gathered the Dragon Balls. He gained vast knowledge from Porunga as Whis heard a prophecy about someone who could become a universe and awakened Beerus.

• He-El exchanged his martial arts techniques with King Kai for the Kais Fist and Spirit Bomb, then returned to train Goku and the others while Bulma and Dr. Briefs finished a spaceship.
• He-El departed Earth aboard Bulma's Azure Star, helped troubled planets, and accepted Bulma’s confession of love after she revealed she had stowed away.
• He-El and Bulma resolved conflicts on a war-torn planet and Ocean Planet before setting course for Planet Namek.
• He-El and Bulma met Yug in a Namekian village, where He-El warned the elder of Namek’s future crisis and defeated Yug in a strength trial.
• He-El, Bulma, and Yug met the Grand Elder, who believed He-El’s warning and offered to unlock his potential, but He-El declined and agreed to gather the Dragon Balls.
• He-El defeated Nail with a single finger strike, and Nail then helped gather the Dragon Balls while the Namekians agreed to upgrade Bulma’s spaceship.
