Background

Shi Bantian's Seven Star Gourd Vine evolved into a physical plant after his intimacy with Qian Renxue. Within seven minutes, the vine produced seven gourds, each carrying a bloodline connection to Shi Bantian and Qian Renxue's aura. The children first addressed Shi Bantian as “Daddy” while still growing on the vine. 2

Shi Bantian named the gourds in descending size: Da Wa, Er Wa, San Wa, Si Wa, Wu Wa, Liu Wa, and Qi Wa. Qi Wa was initially the smallest and weakest, and her brothers secretly ensured she received extra nourishment. 3 4

Before most of them were born, the Gourd Babies defended their father and vine from ten-thousand-year Spirit Beasts. Their combined extreme fire, extreme ice, and physical power forced the attackers to submit and offer protection to Shi Bantian. 5 6

The siblings repeatedly traveled to Spirit City to rescue Qian Renxue, whom they recognized as their mother. Spirit Hall captured several of them, while Bibi Dong raised Qi Wa separately and attempted to influence her memories and loyalty. 72 85 110 124

After escaping Spirit Hall, the siblings hid in abandoned shacks and survived through food stolen by Liu Wa. Their Martial Souls had been sealed, but Liu Wa's abilities allowed him to hide and transport his brothers during their escape. 161 162 165

The seven reunited after separate journeys through the City of Slaughter and Sea God Island. Their shared growth eventually allowed them to fuse into Gourd Little Vajra, first in battle against Bibi Dong and later again to reach Level 99. 177 179 248 321

The Gourd Babies are strongly family-oriented. Their central goal for much of the story is rescuing their mother, father, and imprisoned siblings; they repeatedly risk confrontation with Spirit Hall to do so. 3 124 205

They are protective of one another, particularly toward Qi Wa. Despite her period under Bibi Dong's influence, the brothers choose to give her a scarce seven-colored lotus seed because she is the youngest and had suffered greatly. 202
