Background / History

Xiao Wu was Tang San's childhood companion and had been the “big sister” of Notting Academy for years. At their arrival at a hotel, she was ready to confront Dai Mubai over his treatment of them, but Tang San stopped her and promised to handle the conflict himself 42.

Her true nature is that of a 100,000-year rabbit soul beast transformed into a human. Unlike ordinary soul masters, she can form her own soul rings upon reaching each tenth-level bottleneck rather than hunting soul beasts 107 295.

She regarded the Titan Giant Ape, Er Ming, as a brother. After Yun Chuan killed Er Ming and began absorbing his soul ring, Xiao Wu attempted to disrupt the absorption and avenge him, but Yun Chuan detected her hostile intent 82. Her desire for vengeance later conflicted with her love for Tang San when she suspected Yun Chuan—Er Ming's killer—might be connected to Tang San's parents 107.

During the Soul Master Competition, the Seven Treasure Divine Light disrupted the method concealing her soul beast aura. Pope Bibi Dong, Yue Guan, Gui Mei, and Chen Xin recognized her identity, exposing her to those seeking a 100,000-year soul ring and soul bone 250 267. Martial Soul Hall subsequently captured her, with Yun Chuan taking her as a hostage after allowing Tang Hao and Tang San to escape 258.

Appearance

In human form, Xiao Wu appears as a young girl. When she activates her spirit, rabbit ears emerge, white fur covers her hands, and her body becomes more elongated 49.

Xiao Wu is spirited, confrontational when insulted, and accustomed to taking charge. She was prepared to step in against Dai Mubai rather than accept his disrespect 42.

Her devotion to Tang San and Er Ming shapes her major choices. She is willing to risk revenge against Yun Chuan for Er Ming, yet suffers over the possibility that doing so could bring her into conflict with Tang San's family 82 107. While imprisoned, she refuses to accept being treated as a pet and would rather die than submit with her dignity broken 264.

She also acts selflessly toward Tang San. After her capture, she pretends to have willingly chosen Yun Chuan—including addressing him as “master” and kissing him—in an effort to make Tang San abandon any attempt to rescue her and avoid Yun Chuan's overwhelming power 267 268 271.

Early Shrek period

Xiao Wu accompanies Tang San to the hotel where they first encounter Dai Mubai. She later fights Ma Hongjun, using Waist Bow to decisively throw him after reaching close range 42 60.

During a test against the Armor Giant, her illusion-type soul skill is overwhelmed by the opponent's superior soul power. She coughs blood and loses consciousness from backlash, prompting Tang San to entrust her to Ning Rongrong's care 53.

Er Ming's death and revenge

Following the Titan Giant Ape's death, Xiao Wu covertly approaches Yun Chuan while he absorbs Er Ming's 100,000-year soul ring. She intends to disrupt the process, knowing the backlash could seriously injure or kill him, but her attempt fails before she can act 82.

Identity exposure

Xiao Wu's transformed soul beast aura is exposed when Ning Rongrong's Seven Treasure Divine Light interferes with its concealment. The revelation places her at risk because a transformed 100,000-year soul beast offers both a soul ring and soul bone 250 267.

Captivity in Martial Soul Hall

Yun Chuan takes Xiao Wu hostage after the conflict at Martial Soul City. Although held in the Sky Prison, she receives unusually comfortable treatment in a luxurious suite because of her human form and lack of serious crimes 258 263 264.

She initially believes she may be facing execution, but Yun Chuan tells her she will remain alive unless he consents to her death. His display of nine blood-red soul rings and discussion of godhood leave her fearful that revenge may be impossible 264 265.

Feigned betrayal of Tang San

Under Yun Chuan's control and protection, Xiao Wu appears before Tang San acting docile and calling Yun Chuan “master.” She then claims that life in Martial Soul Hall is good and that following Yun Chuan is her blessing 267 268.

Her apparent romantic involvement with Yun Chuan is a deliberate performance intended to force Tang San to give up on rescuing her. Ning Rongrong later explains that Xiao Wu acted from fear for Tang San's safety in the face of Yun Chuan's potential godhood 268 271.
