Background & History
Eastern Emperor and Golden Crow guardian
Tai Yi stood beside his elder brother Di Jun as one of the Golden Crow Clan's foremost powers. He could physically rival an Ancestral Witch and confronted Qiang Liang, Gong Gong, and Zhu Rong despite grave injuries; when the Demon Race Army arrived, he confirmed that he and his nephews had survived. 9
Though born from the Sun Star alongside Di Jun, Tai Yi declined to contend for the title and responsibility of Sun God. He chose personal freedom and transcendence over sharing the Sun's authority and the obligation of protecting all beings. 117
Guiding Lu Jun's path
Tai Yi summoned Ancestor Minghe to the Sun Star under the Chaos Bell's protection, allowing Minghe to attend despite Zhen Yuanzi's blockade of the Blood Sea. 28 He then kept Minghe and Zhen Yuanzi from resuming their conflict, enabling a discussion of the path of One Attainment, Eternal Attainment. 29 31
He was the first among Di Jun's family to place confidence in Lu Jun's ability to pursue that path. Tai Yi based this judgment on Lu Jun's Nirvana-enhanced body, enormous reserves of True Sun Fire and devoured Chaos essence, and aptitude for sustaining billions of incarnations. 32 64
The Three Corpses path and supreme-treasure exchange
After testing Ren Jing's Nirvana battle body, Tai Yi concluded that ordinary Nirvana was insufficient for his own ambitions. He sought a balanced union of his Three Corpses with his main body, intending to combine that form with the Chaos Bell's power. 319 320
Tai Yi ultimately agreed to exchange the Chaos Bell—his Companion Supreme Treasure and the basis of his former dominance—for the Mysterious Yellow Pagoda of Heaven and Earth and the Primordial Measure Ruler. The exchange was motivated in part by the chance that the merit treasures could secure Di Jun's Nirvana opportunity. 355 361 363
Phoenix Clan ties and heirs
Di Jun pressed Tai Yi to continue the Golden Crow bloodline through an alliance with the Phoenix Clan. Tai Yi initially resisted, viewing romantic ties and bloodline continuation as distractions from cultivation, and even fled rather than accept the arrangement. 484 485
At the Immortal Volcano, Tai Yi's Dao exchanges with Phoenix Clan Female Immortals gradually developed into genuine mutual affection. He retained his resolve to undertake Nirvana but accepted these relationships openly once their Dao Hearts aligned. 493 494 524
Before departing, Tai Yi discovered that several Phoenix Clan Female Immortals carried his children. He placed his primal mark within the mothers and fetuses to protect them and nurture the children's Innate Dao Bodies. 525
Nirvana and the creation of Tai Yi's Universe
With Fuxi's ascension and the major powers of the Prehistoric World temporarily balanced, Tai Yi judged that the moment had come to begin Chaotic Nirvana. His goal was to take the form of a Golden Crow while pursuing the Nirvana of a Chaos Demon God. 524
His Nirvana evolved beyond an individual transformation. Devouring condensed matter, energy, space, time, and laws into a singularity; the resulting black-hole-like structure became a self-consistent system capable of growth. 559 561
Tai Yi then created a new universe. The Mysterious Yellow Pagoda became its Foundation of Innate Order, the Primordial Measure Ruler became its cosmic measurement system, and Tai Yi's own True Sun Fire and Devouring Dao became its energy origin and driving force. 571 He shaped the universe around stars, planets, and galaxies, pre-setting stellar and planetary evolutionary paths while becoming its source of light and energy. 573
Appearance
Tai Yi is portrayed with a cold, majestic bearing befitting the Eastern Emperor. His normally stern demeanor softens noticeably around his Phoenix Clan partners and unborn children. 525
- Golden eyes that can flare with solar radiance or cold killing intent. 428 449
- An aura compared to an eternal star: stable, oppressive, and difficult to affect even with extreme heat or gravity. 319
- True Sun Fire surrounding him during moments of resolve. 524
- His post-Nirvana existence manifests through a universe of stars and laws rather than a conventional individual body. 571 573
Personality
Tai Yi is intensely independent. He rejected the Sun God's authority because he did not want to be bound by its responsibility, preferring to pursue his own path toward freedom and transcendence. 117
He is confident in his judgment, particularly where Lu Jun is concerned. Tai Yi openly boasted that he had recognized Lu Jun's exceptional talent before Di Jun did, and he continued to support Lu Jun's unconventional cultivation path despite its reputation as a dead end. 32 64
In conflict, Tai Yi is decisive and severe. He was prepared to erase Jieyin and Zhunti's manifested Three Corpses immediately, but deferred when Lu Jun chose to handle the matter himself. 406 His protectiveness is especially pronounced toward his nephews; he threatened to destroy Mount Sumeru if the Buddhist Sect manipulated You Wen's will or nature. 428
Despite his martial focus and outward coldness, Tai Yi is capable of patience, mentorship, and tenderness. He carefully tested Ren Jing after Nirvana, praised his nephew's progress, and later entrusted Phoenix Clan mothers with the protection of his unborn children. 319 525
Abilities & Skills
Physical Combat and Great Dao mastery
Tai Yi possesses overwhelming physical strength and control of Great Dao laws.
- His physical strength can rival that of an Ancestral Witch. 9
- He neutralized Ren Jing's full-force attacks without moving or using the Chaos Bell, including attacks capable of threatening ordinary Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal treasures. 319
- He dissolved fire, gravity, Star Power, and other divine abilities through absolute control of laws. 319
- He assessed that he could suppress Minghe even within the Blood Sea by combining True Sun Fire, stellar power, and the Chaos Bell's former authority over time, space, and primordial chaos. 443
Nirvana and Devouring Dao
Tai Yi's personal path is Nirvana through Chaos, centered on devouring and refining all things.
- He devours Chaos Qi as part of a path distinct from Di Jun's vow-power method of proving the Dao. 416
- His Devouring Power consumes matter, energy, space, time, light, and concepts. 559
- The Nirvana process enabled him to touch the twelve Great Daos associated with the Twelve Ancestral Witches, apparently through a single foundational Great Dao of Devouring. 561
- Nirvana required immense merit and energy and was explicitly a gamble of life and death. 436 524
Three Corpses and merit incarnations
Tai Yi pursued a method of uniting his Three Corpses rather than allowing one corpse alone to dominate.
- His intended Three Corpses form relies on balanced strength among all three bodies and their natural merger with the main body. 320
- Laozi taught him Condense Spirit into Image, which burns a portion of power and merit to create a short-lived Original Merit Incarnation carrying Tai Yi's Dao Principles and aura. 360
- An influx of Heavenly Dao Merit successfully formed and stabilized his Merit Incarnation. 365
Creation of Tai Yi's Universe
Tai Yi's completed Nirvana turned his cultivation into a cosmic act of creation.
- The Mysterious Yellow Pagoda became the universe's framework of physical order. 571
- The Primordial Measure Ruler became the system governing fundamental measurement and causal logic. 571
- His True Sun Fire differentiated into stars, while his Devouring Dao drove spacetime expansion. 571
- Tai Yi deliberately did not transform into all living beings; he left life in his universe to evolve independently. 588
- The Nirvana Egg stabilized into a passage between the Prehistoric World and Tai Yi's Universe, permitting exchanges of matter, energy, and information. 581
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Chaos Bell / Eastern Emperor Bell — Tai Yi's former Companion Supreme Treasure and the emblem of his power; it could suppress primordial chaos, stabilize earth, water, fire, and wind, and reverse time and space. Tai Yi exchanged it for two Houtian Merit Supreme Treasures. 355 363 443
- Mysterious Yellow Pagoda of Heaven and Earth — A defensive Houtian Merit Supreme Treasure held by Tai Yi after the exchange. It protected his soul during Nirvana before sublimating into his universe's Foundation of Innate Order. 405 525 571
- Primordial Measure Ruler — An offensive Houtian Merit Supreme Treasure held by Tai Yi after the exchange. It aided his Nirvana before becoming the cosmic measurement system of Tai Yi's Universe. 405 525 571

- Lu Jun — Nephew and disciple-like beneficiary of Tai Yi's guidance. Tai Yi championed Lu Jun's One Attainment, Eternal Attainment path, protects his interests, and defers to his judgment in matters involving Lu Jun's treasures and Karma. 32 64 406
- Ren Jing — Ninth Crown Prince and nephew. Tai Yi personally tested Ren Jing's Neutron Star Battle Body after Nirvana and used the results to refine his own plans. 319
- You Wen — Nephew and one of Di Jun's sons. Tai Yi understands You Wen's frustration over failing to undergo Nirvana and fiercely protects his autonomy after he becomes Great Sun Tathagata. 428
- Minghe — A dangerous but useful associate. Tai Yi mediated Minghe's dispute with Zhen Yuanzi, respected Minghe's formidable Blood Sea battle system, and later advised him to scatter his Blood God Sons through the myriad worlds. 29 443 449
- Zhen Yuanzi — Initially an obstacle to Minghe's attendance at Tai Yi's gathering; Tai Yi suppressed the conflict between Zhen Yuanzi and Minghe to facilitate their Dao discussion. 28 29

- Shuang Ling, Yan Wu, Cai Yu, and other Phoenix Clan Female Immortals — Tai Yi's partners and the mothers of his children. Their relationship began through Dao exchanges and developed into mutual affection and shared commitment to his Nirvana path. 493 524 525
