Tai Yi stood beside his elder brother Di Jun as one of the Golden Crow Clan's foremost powers. He could physically rival an Ancestral Witch and confronted Qiang Liang, Gong Gong, and Zhu Rong despite grave injuries; when the Demon Race Army arrived, he confirmed that he and his nephews had survived. 9

Though born from the Sun Star alongside Di Jun, Tai Yi declined to contend for the title and responsibility of Sun God. He chose personal freedom and transcendence over sharing the Sun's authority and the obligation of protecting all beings. 117

Guiding Lu Jun's path

Tai Yi summoned Ancestor Minghe to the Sun Star under the Chaos Bell's protection, allowing Minghe to attend despite Zhen Yuanzi's blockade of the Blood Sea. 28 He then kept Minghe and Zhen Yuanzi from resuming their conflict, enabling a discussion of the path of One Attainment, Eternal Attainment. 29 31

He was the first among Di Jun's family to place confidence in Lu Jun's ability to pursue that path. Tai Yi based this judgment on Lu Jun's Nirvana-enhanced body, enormous reserves of True Sun Fire and devoured Chaos essence, and aptitude for sustaining billions of incarnations. 32 64

The Three Corpses path and supreme-treasure exchange

After testing Ren Jing's Nirvana battle body, Tai Yi concluded that ordinary Nirvana was insufficient for his own ambitions. He sought a balanced union of his Three Corpses with his main body, intending to combine that form with the Chaos Bell's power. 319 320

Tai Yi ultimately agreed to exchange the Chaos Bell—his Companion Supreme Treasure and the basis of his former dominance—for the Mysterious Yellow Pagoda of Heaven and Earth and the Primordial Measure Ruler. The exchange was motivated in part by the chance that the merit treasures could secure Di Jun's Nirvana opportunity. 355 361 363

Phoenix Clan ties and heirs

Di Jun pressed Tai Yi to continue the Golden Crow bloodline through an alliance with the Phoenix Clan. Tai Yi initially resisted, viewing romantic ties and bloodline continuation as distractions from cultivation, and even fled rather than accept the arrangement. 484 485

At the Immortal Volcano, Tai Yi's Dao exchanges with Phoenix Clan Female Immortals gradually developed into genuine mutual affection. He retained his resolve to undertake Nirvana but accepted these relationships openly once their Dao Hearts aligned. 493 494 524

Before departing, Tai Yi discovered that several Phoenix Clan Female Immortals carried his children. He placed his primal mark within the mothers and fetuses to protect them and nurture the children's Innate Dao Bodies. 525

Nirvana and the creation of Tai Yi's Universe

With Fuxi's ascension and the major powers of the Prehistoric World temporarily balanced, Tai Yi judged that the moment had come to begin Chaotic Nirvana. His goal was to take the form of a Golden Crow while pursuing the Nirvana of a Chaos Demon God. 524

His Nirvana evolved beyond an individual transformation. Devouring condensed matter, energy, space, time, and laws into a singularity; the resulting black-hole-like structure became a self-consistent system capable of growth. 559 561

Tai Yi then created a new universe. The Mysterious Yellow Pagoda became its Foundation of Innate Order, the Primordial Measure Ruler became its cosmic measurement system, and Tai Yi's own True Sun Fire and Devouring Dao became its energy origin and driving force. 571 He shaped the universe around stars, planets, and galaxies, pre-setting stellar and planetary evolutionary paths while becoming its source of light and energy. 573

Tai Yi is intensely independent. He rejected the Sun God's authority because he did not want to be bound by its responsibility, preferring to pursue his own path toward freedom and transcendence. 117

He is confident in his judgment, particularly where Lu Jun is concerned. Tai Yi openly boasted that he had recognized Lu Jun's exceptional talent before Di Jun did, and he continued to support Lu Jun's unconventional cultivation path despite its reputation as a dead end. 32 64

In conflict, Tai Yi is decisive and severe. He was prepared to erase Jieyin and Zhunti's manifested Three Corpses immediately, but deferred when Lu Jun chose to handle the matter himself. 406 His protectiveness is especially pronounced toward his nephews; he threatened to destroy Mount Sumeru if the Buddhist Sect manipulated You Wen's will or nature. 428

Despite his martial focus and outward coldness, Tai Yi is capable of patience, mentorship, and tenderness. He carefully tested Ren Jing after Nirvana, praised his nephew's progress, and later entrusted Phoenix Clan mothers with the protection of his unborn children. 319 525
