Long Aotian and Zhao Ritian really started fighting.
Once they got serious, the scene became far more brutal. Countless pieces of furniture were smashed to bits, and decorations lay shattered all over the floor.
The three of them ended up tangled together, and no one paid any attention to Huo Wenting.
Huo Wenting picked up her pistol and pointed it at the three of them. "Move aside!"
The three turned around, then lay on the floor with their hands raised. "No, no, no! Don't shoot!"
Huo Wenting pointed at Long Aotian and said to Lu Chengwen and Zhao Ritian, "Tie him up!"
Lu Chengwen and Zhao Ritian scrambled to their feet. Lu Chengwen kicked Zhao Ritian to the ground, Long Aotian kicked Lu Chengwen down, then fled through the window. Huo Wenting fired a shot at Long Aotian's retreating back through the window.
Lu Chengwen was horrified and hurried over to raise the muzzle of her gun. "Don't shoot!"
"What's wrong?"
"Uh... take him alive."
"Then hurry up and go after him!"
Lu Chengwen walked over and grabbed Zhao Ritian by the ear. "Get out here."
After the commotion had passed.
Huo Wenting sat curled up by the bed, still shaken.
She had been quite brave at the time, but once she thought back on how dangerous it had been, that dagger had nearly pierced her throat several times.
When she thought of the consequences—of her blood spilling here... terror overwhelmed her, and her whole body trembled.
Lu Chengwen walked over and gently draped a blanket around her.
Huo Wenting turned back. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Lu Chengwen said gently.
He sat down beside her. "You saw it too. They tested the waters during the day, then made their move at night. It's impossible to guard against."
