Background / History
The Mirror of Inner Demons presents Long Aotian's childhood as one of abandonment, enslavement, and a name imposed upon him: “From today on, your name is Long Aotian. Your life belongs to me.” It also shows him surviving a battlefield strewn with corpses and calling desperately for lost companions. 1504
Long Aotian later recounts that he grew up relying on his elder sister until a fire took her away. He joined the Tie Chi Army as an infantryman and fought within the Mohist Great Formation; the King's Aura subsequently made him a target for powerful enemies. 1846 1886
King Tie Chi became his adoptive father. As the youngest and favored of King Tie Chi's thirteen adopted sons, Long Aotian became the Thirteenth Protector, attained the Upper Four Gates by eighteen, and built a record as a decorated Southern Border war hero. 276 1228 2380
He later became a disciple of Hun Tiangang alongside Lu Chengwen, with the two sworn in as brothers. Hun Tiangang genuinely taught Lu Chengwen powerful arts while misleading Long Aotian with deceptively named basic techniques and “foreign evil arts,” including Hadugen and Haoyougen. 65 124
Appearance
Long Aotian is repeatedly described as a distinguished, imposing young man whose bearing remains refined even when his clothing is ordinary. His martial physique includes a solid chest and pronounced musculature. 28 218 679
- Carries himself with the stern posture and sharp presence of a frontier soldier. 1313
- Often dresses deliberately to project status, including tailored suits, sunglasses, and formal accessories. 1529
- His face was disfigured through Old Man Wu's brutal training methods, a source of deep frustration for him. 856
- His talent radiance is balanced and can produce a faint halo, an exceptionally rare trait. 1511
Personality
Long Aotian is intensely proud of his identity, martial talent, military record, and King's Aura. He expects recognition appropriate to a “Child of Destiny,” reacts sharply to disrespect, and often frames his ambitions in grand terms of ruling the Northern Kingdom or reshaping the world. 565 856 970
His self-confidence regularly becomes arrogance. He can underestimate opponents, overlook his companions' dissatisfaction, and misread social situations—most conspicuously when he destroyed a memorial gift during a bodyguard interview to demonstrate his strength. 252 599
Despite this vanity, Long Aotian is capable of composure, strategic calculation, and respect toward worthy opponents. He earned admiration after defeating stronger-ranked fighters while treating Qin Han with humility, and he has repeatedly formed pragmatic alliances when faced with overwhelming circumstances. 1014 1732
His later actions reveal a more principled side. He refuses to use his King's Aura against dishonorable opponents when doing so would compromise his dignity as a martial artist, returns to aid Lu Chengwen and Zhao Ritian despite wishing to escape, and remains determined to bear responsibility rather than abandon his ideals. 1701 1845 1886
Abilities & Skills

- Devouring potential — Can counter and potentially devour Demon Race inherited power, which Long Aotian attempted to use against Lu Chengwen's Archaic Ape God Primal God. 1031

- Uses polearms skillfully, though he rarely displayed them before receiving the Plum Blossom Spear. 1519

Imperial Fire Seed
Long Aotian possesses an Imperial Fire Seed, which manifests as a small white flame in his palm. 1731
- Uses it as proof of his exceptional qualifications and power. 1731
- The Fire Seed makes him a target of the Bai Family, who seek to kill him and seize it. 1732
Medicine
Long Aotian is a practitioner of ancient Chinese medicine whose medical knowledge is respected by wealthy patients and martial artists alike. 218 241
- Cured multiple wealthy patients with difficult and complex illnesses, leading several to offer him positions as their personal physician. 241
- Writes intricate prescriptions requiring rare ingredients and carefully coordinated preparation. 1622
- Uses unconventional and frequently brutal treatment methods, including forcibly breaking Cang Yue's bones while attempting to address an injury. 1939
- Possesses access to several proposed treatment methods, including the rare Great Heaven Returning Pill. 1939
Strategy, Divination, and Scholarly Knowledge
Long Aotian claims expertise in Qimen Dunjia, Bagua divination, historical texts, Buddhist scriptures, poetry, songs, and the zither. 1660
- Used fortune-telling to warn Tang Xiaohao not to provoke Lu Chengwen and Zhao Ritian. 2303
- Recovered Dong Cheng and Xi Jiu's loyalty by inventing a flattering story about the masked woman being a powerful admirer. 856
- Teaches Li Jiarui and Ding Shiping fashion, etiquette, and how to manage appearances in high-status settings. 1529
