Background / History

Bibi Dong initially assigned Yue Guan to secretly collect Whale Rubber throughout the continent, then deliver the Soul Master Encyclopedia and cultivation resources to Yu Xiaogang in Nuoding City. Yue Guan obeyed, though he privately misunderstood the Pope’s reasons for acquiring the material. 3

While searching for Yu Xiaogang with Gui Mei, Yue Guan displayed longstanding resentment toward the Grandmaster. After learning Tang San possessed Innate Full Soul Power, he attempted to recruit him into Spirit Hall and personally guide him, arguing that steady cultivation would guarantee Tang San’s future as a Titled Douluo. 13 14

When Tang San refused, Yue Guan turned openly hostile. He released a Mandala Snake, forced Tang San toward a five-year Thorn Vine soul ring, struck Yu Xiaogang for resisting, and later threatened Tang San into revealing the Clear Sky Hammer as his second Martial Soul. Although Bibi Dong had ordered the encyclopedia delivered, Yue Guan deliberately tore out its pages on cultivating multiple Martial Souls before leaving it with Yu Xiaogang. 15 16

Years later, Yue Guan and Gui Mei encountered Tang San again in the Star Dou Great Forest. Viewing Tang San’s rapid growth as dangerous, Yue Guan forcibly gave him a ten-year Black-Striped Ant soul ring to hinder his development. 95 96

Despite this ruthlessness, he is not indiscriminately malicious. He follows Bibi Dong’s authority closely, recognizes the political consequences of his actions, and is protective toward people under his responsibility. His treatment of Ye Xinyu shifts from suspicion to concern, with Yue Guan arranging her tournament role, protecting her from Salas, restricting her movements for safety, and escorting her away from danger. 117 127 146

Gui Mei frequently serves as the calmer counterpart to Yue Guan’s impulsiveness, warning him against unnecessary provocations and restraining his comments about Spirit Hall’s higher authorities. 13 95
