Background / History
Previous Life and Early Years
Tang San retains the experience of a previous life in the Tang Sect, where he survived in an assassin organization and learned to judge people through their expressions. His former life also gave him a foundation in concealed weapons, forging, and the Mysterious Heaven Skill. 14 20 29
Bibi Dong's system identifies him as the continent's Child of Destiny, making him impossible to kill directly without causing an uncontrollable change. She therefore regards hindering his growth as safer than eliminating him outright. 4
Tang San grows up as Tang Hao's son while concealing his connection to the Clear Sky Sect. He possesses Innate Full Soul Power and awakens Blue Silver Grass, a martial soul widely considered useless, while secretly possessing the Clear Sky Hammer as a second martial soul. 13 14 95
Spirit Hall's Interference
Grandmaster accepts Tang San as his first disciple and attempts to protect him from Spirit Hall's interest. Yue Guan and Gui Mei offer Tang San recruitment, but he refuses because he values his freedom and distrusts their intentions. 13 14
The two Titled Douluo instead force Tang San to absorb low-aged soul rings. He accepts rather than risk Grandmaster's death, suppressing his anger while vowing revenge against them and Spirit Hall. The rings initially leave him below Level 11 even after two absorptions. 15 16
Tang San later seeks a Soul Seed as a possible means of repairing his damaged foundation, though he acknowledges that one is prohibitively rare and expensive. 29
Nuoding Academy
At Nuoding City Academy, Tang San becomes close to Xiao Wu and earns the respect of several work-study students. He defeats the one-ring student Ling Feng by using Blue Silver Entanglement to disrupt his movement, then overwhelms him through close-quarters technique and physical strength. 42 43
He also works as a blacksmith. When Xiao Wu's sentimental wooden comb breaks, he forges a durable refined-iron replacement using the original as a mold. 43 44
The Living Armor Incident
After discovering that Spirit Hall has sealed off a crater near Nuoding City, Tang San infiltrates the guarded site and descends into its nearly kilometer-deep pit. He finds a massive living creature, battles its hatchlings, and gains a purplish-black shell that fuses to his body as an External Soul Bone. 76 78
The shell devours hatchlings to heal Tang San and increase his Soul Power. He then encounters Bel'Veth, the Void Empress, and destroys her final seal in exchange for a promise that she will not harm his family. 79
Recovery and Rapid Growth
Tang San later absorbs Sky Dream Ice Silkworm's soul ring. The sacrifice gives him three spiritual soul skills and an ice-attributed martial-soul template, dramatically improving the value of his damaged Blue Silver Grass configuration. 101
After losing to Ye Xinyu, Tang San follows Sky Dream Ice Silkworm's advice to prioritize long-term cultivation over immediate revenge. He has Liu Erlong spread news of his death to avoid pursuit, then leaves Blue Tyrant Academy for safer territory. 148 152
City of Slaughter and the Road to Hell
Tang San reunites with Tang Hao and enters the City of Slaughter to obtain its special domain. He kills more than a thousand Soul Masters over a year, survives repeated group assaults, and achieves one hundred consecutive victories, earning the title God of Slaughter. 198 207 213
He refuses the King of Slaughter's offer to bypass the Road to Hell. Although he and Ye Xinyu remain enemies, he forces a temporary agreement for them to enter the trial together. 213 214
Tang San absorbs Divine Slaughter's Domain but is severely wounded by Ye Xinyu's Rakshasa Scythe. Xiao Wu intervenes to block Ye Xinyu's final attack and save him. 218
Clear Sky Sect and War with Spirit Hall
After Tang Hao is killed by Qian Daoliu, Tang San returns to the Clear Sky Sect and meets his great-grandfather, Tang Chen. Tang Chen agrees to guide his cultivation despite the clan's hostility toward Tang San and his own terminal poisoning. 228 232
Tang San convinces Tang Chen that Spirit Hall's growing influence should be opposed through an alliance with the two great empires. He later seeks support from Grandmaster and Shrek Academy for this effort. 233 258
During the Heaven Dou Palace conflict, Tang Chen gives Tang San the Asura Demonic Sword and transfers his remaining Asura Divine Power into it. Tang Chen intends Tang San to inherit the position of Asura God after completing the ninth trial. 264
Tang San eventually reaches the Titled Douluo realm and launches operations against Spirit Hall, including an attempted ambush of Hu Liena's group. 276 277
Death
Tang San is apparently killed by Bibi Dong's Soul Power pressure, but later appears alive in the Great Tang Empire's imperial palace. 280 286
When Xian'er arrives, Tang San recognizes that her killing intent and strength exceed anything he can resist. He throws Xiao Wu into the path of her sword light and attempts to escape. Xian'er kills him with a second sword strike, exploding his body into a rain of blood. 286
Appearance
Tang San initially appears as an ordinary-looking boy in plain clothing, difficult to distinguish in a crowd. His most striking feature is his sharp, penetrating gaze, which can become purple when he uses the Purple Demon Eye. 27 34
- Often described as calm and unassuming despite his hostile intentions and combat experience.
- His eyes shine purple when using the Purple Demon Eye. 34
- His Living Armor manifests as blackish-purple shell-like armor extending from beneath his skin. 218
- The Asura Demonic Sword creates a red demonic mark between his brows and surrounds him with blood-red energy. 264
Personality
Tang San is cautious, observant, and difficult to deceive. His Tang Sect background makes him attentive to body language and hidden motives; he openly tests others' reactions rather than trusting their words. 14 29
He is highly resilient under pressure. When Yue Guan and Gui Mei force him to absorb worthless rings, he remains outwardly calm, prioritizes survival, and conceals his resentment until he can seek revenge later. 15 16
Tang San is also strategic and patient. He delays retaliation against Ye Xinyu after recognizing the danger of her backing, fakes his death to evade pursuit, and later proposes using the two empires' armies against Spirit Hall. 148 233
His time in the City of Slaughter makes him increasingly ruthless. He kills thousands of opponents, treats most inhabitants as enemies, and is willing to threaten Ye Xinyu with mutual destruction to force her cooperation. 207 213 214
