Seeing Tang Ya Again!

Shrek had only three new Soul Elders among this year's new students. Two of them were disciples of major powers and would not become key targets for Shrek Academy's cultivation.

When the admissions teacher saw Wang Rui, who held a letter of introduction from some small city in the Dou Ling Empire and appeared to have no background whatsoever, he was practically overjoyed.

After verifying his Soul Power and age, the teacher waved a hand and exempted Wang Rui from the remaining tests. Huo Yuqing, however, still had to complete them one by one.

Jiang Nannan and Wang Rui naturally accompanied her.

In the original story, Huo Hang had skipped the entrance examinations entirely. Wang Rui had truly not known that Shrek's entrance tests came one after another and were this troublesome.

For the final test, a group of new students followed the teacher to a relatively spacious field.

A crowd of boys and girls in purple school uniforms stood gathered at the edge of the field. Several of them happily greeted Jiang Nannan upon seeing her, including that round-faced girl.

Several older students were also sparring with the new students in pairs on the field.

The final test was also an old Shrek Academy tradition.

"You must last five minutes against a senior student with three soul rings," the admissions teacher explained. "If you can force them to use their third Soul Skill, that also counts as passing, and the test will end early."

"New students from the auxiliary and food systems only need to endure five minutes under Soul Power pressure from someone of the same rank," he added.

Huo Yuqing was first in line.

"Which one of you will do it?" the teacher asked the students in purple uniforms.

The round-faced girl who knew Jiang Nannan had just excitedly raised her hand when a somewhat gloomy voice rang out. "I'll do it."

It was Tang Ya.

She stood behind several students, and Wang Rui had not noticed her at first.

Tang Ya also wore a purple school uniform. Unlike the first time Huo Yuqing had met her, Tang Ya now had a chilling gloominess in her expression. Hostility seemed to have accumulated between her brows, and there was still a partially healed scar on her left cheek.

Her trip to obtain a soul ring had not gone very smoothly. Not only had she failed to obtain the ideal soul ring, Beibei had even been injured. Seeing Wang Rui and Huo Yuqing, who had humiliated the Tang Clan, naturally put her in a foul mood.

She swept Wang Rui with a dark look. "What, you don't need to be tested?"

"But I'm exempt at rank thirty." Wang Rui tilted his head and smiled sweetly at Tang Ya, his innocent tone dripping with mockery. "Senior, are you sure you can beat me?"

Tang Ya glared viciously at him, her beautiful eyes practically spitting fire.

"Then, Teacher, I want to test her." Tang Ya raised a hand and pointed at Huo Yuqing.

Jiang Nannan stepped forward and stood in front of Huo Yuqing.

She had also heard about the conflict between Huo Yuqing and Tang Ya. With Tang Ya wearing such a gloomy expression as she said she wanted to test Huo Yuqing, what else could it mean?

"It wouldn't be good to bring private grudges into the Academy's new student examinations, would it?" Jiang Nannan said coldly.

Though she knew Tang Ya, they were not in the same class and were merely acquaintances who nodded to one another. There was no need for her to save Tang Ya's face now.

"What the hell does it have to do with you?!" Tang Ya shot her a vicious glare.

"Teacher, it would be better to find someone else for the test. Student Tang Ya seems to have some personal grievances with Huo Yuhao," Jiang Nannan said calmly.

"Who dares?!" Tang Ya's brows rose sharply as she swept her gaze across the surrounding students.

These older students helped the Academy test new students mainly to earn the Soul Duelling credits required for graduation.

For students with exceptional talent who were certain to graduate smoothly, these few credits naturally did not matter. But for ordinary, common-born students, they were extremely necessary.

They also all knew the reputation of Tang Ya's boyfriend, Outer Academy prodigy Thunderbolt Beibei. None of them wanted to offend her over a new student who had not even enrolled yet.

The admissions teacher was also rather weak, even weaker than an ordinary Outer Academy teacher. But he was well-informed and knew some of the details behind Beibei's identity, so he was even less willing to offend Tang Ya.

"Then Student Tang Ya will conduct Huo Yuhao's entrance examination," the teacher finally conceded.

Huo Yuqing's expression did not change, but Wang Rui did not miss the disappointment that flashed through the girl's eyes.

"Yuhao, come here." Wang Rui beckoned to her and transmitted his voice through Soul Power. "Tang Ya's skills are nothing more than binding-type abilities like Blue Silver Grass entanglement and parasitism. The grass vines themselves are not very fast, so your Spiritual Detection can handle them completely. But watch out for those sinister Tang Clan techniques of hers. Be careful if she uses hidden weapons, and don't get near her hands either. There's a Tang Clan secret art called Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon that can produce suction force from the palms."

Wang Rui paused before continuing. "She also has a peculiar eye-training technique called Purple Demon Eyes. It can increase Spiritual Power and improve mental resistance... You should keep that in mind."

Huo Yuqing nodded seriously.

"Then get ready." The teacher took out a soul-tool timer.

"Tang Ya, rank thirty-one Control System Battle Soul Master. Martial Soul: Blue Silver Grass. Tang Clan Master." Tang Ya spoke viciously, looking as though she wanted to devour Huo Yuqing alive.

"Huo Yuhao, rank sixteen," Huo Yuqing said in a low voice.

As the teacher announced the start of the examination, both sides activated Martial Soul Possession.

Specks of golden light appeared in Huo Yuqing's eyes, and a thin white soul ring rose behind her.

At Tang Ya's side, purple-black vines rose like snakes, while three yellow soul rings spun around her body.

Wang Rui chuckled softly.

No wonder she was in such a terrible mood. It seemed the misfortune he had inflicted really had taken effect.

Tang Ya and Beibei had searched bitterly around the outskirts of the forest for an entire month, yet they had failed to find a suitable Thousand-Year Soul Beast.

If she could not obtain her third soul ring, she would have to leave Shrek Academy. And if she missed this opportunity, Beibei would also begin school. No one would help her hunt a soul ring within the next year.

Tang Ya naturally could not simply give up. She could only settle for second best and choose a nine-hundred-year Mandala Snake.

Unexpectedly, that snake had a ten-thousand-year elder relative. The ten-thousand-year Mandala Snake attacked Beibei, and Beibei had suffered serious injuries protecting Tang Ya. He was still recuperating on Sea God Island.

A month of setbacks had made Tang Ya look at Huo Yuqing as though her gaze were poisoned. So what if she was merely venting her anger on her?
