Background / History
Konoha’s crisis began with its treatment of the Uchiha Clan. Uchiha Itachi admitted to massacring the clan for the village and to protect Sasuke, while Tsunade identified Hiruzen Sarutobi’s failure to address the conflict and Shimura Danzō’s actions as the underlying causes. These events precipitated Uchiha Yue’s emergence and his attack on Konoha. 7 85
Uchiha Yue overwhelmed Konoha’s defenders, killing the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi. As Yue’s Dead Silence Domain froze and darkened the village, Konoha’s Barrier Team attempted to halt its spread but had their Chakra drained; the village’s residents ultimately evacuated. The original Konoha was left empty and described as destroyed. 8 9 16
The survivors established New Konoha far from the original site. Even after relocating, Konoha remained endangered by the expanding Dead Silence Domain, which threatened to consume the Land of Fire and leave the village without a homeland. 66 117 118
Attempts to Stop Uchiha Yue
Konoha initially interpreted Yue’s immobility as a weakness and considered persuading him to commit suicide, then taking his Sharingan. Tsunade later concluded that the domain’s continued growth and energy absorption meant Yue had not actually weakened. 73 74
After its effort to seize Yue’s eyes failed, Konoha sought cooperation from the other ninja villages and smaller villages. Its appeals were rejected because the other major villages expected to defeat Yue independently and distrusted Konoha’s motives. 117 118
Tsunade attempted to revive Hashirama and Tobirama Senju as a countermeasure. Hashirama was successfully summoned through Impure World Reincarnation, while the attempt to summon Tobirama initially failed. 138
Internal Collapse
Konoha’s treatment of Naruto Uzumaki contributed to his growing disillusionment with the village. After learning of the hypocrisy surrounding the Will of Fire and the Uchiha Clan’s destruction, Naruto lost control of the Nine-Tails’ power and prepared to attack Konoha with a Tailed Beast Bomb. 116 127
The village’s military strength was further depleted by the Uchiha Yue crisis and Naruto’s rampage. Naruto was later imprisoned, but ultimately went missing after Konoha’s weakened defenses were infiltrated. 163 165 166 174

Countermeasures and Research
- Barrier Team deployment — Konoha attempted to contain the Dead Silence Domain with a barrier, but the domain drained the team’s Chakra and caused the barrier to collapse. 9
- Sealing Armor — Developed by Tobirama Senju and Orochimaru to let Nagato resist Yue’s absorption through a large supply of Sage Chakra. The armor enabled Nagato to enter the domain, but did not prevent his defeat. 102 103 115
- Impure World Reincarnation — Used to revive Hashirama Senju and later became a major source of Konoha’s power and research. Its misuse also produced Hiruzen’s immortal, soul-devouring form. 138 148 210
- Uchiha biotechnology — Konoha preserved Uchiha tissue, including Sasuke’s, and used Kakashi Hatake’s Sharingan in research that produced Uchiha clones with Three Tomoe Sharingan. 153 183
- Ultimate Demon God Mecha project — Konoha participated in the wider Ninja World’s development of a mecha designed to oppose the Dead Silence Domain and wield a Soul Extinguishing Sword against Yue’s soul. 184
Relationships
- Uchiha Clan — A founding clan of Konoha whose destruction became the central cause of the village’s catastrophe. Surviving leaders later feared another Uchiha Yue-like disaster and imposed severe restrictions on the clan in a parallel-world crisis. 85 204 206
- Uchiha Yue — Konoha’s principal adversary and the source of the Dead Silence Domain. His assault killed Hiruzen, destroyed the original village, and placed the Land of Fire on a countdown to destruction. 7 16 117
- Naruto Uzumaki — Konoha’s Nine-Tails Jinchūriki. His isolation and the village’s actions led to his rejection of Konoha and eventual disappearance during Orochimaru’s administration. 116 127 174
- Land of Fire Daimyo — Konoha’s political sponsor and harsh critic. He blamed Konoha and Danzō for bringing the Uchiha Yue disaster upon the Land of Fire and threatened to withdraw support. 77 147
- Mount Myōboku — A connected but independent sage faction. Mount Myōboku’s sages blamed Konoha for forcing the wider Ninja World into crisis and opposed Konoha’s attempts to monopolize Sage Art. 69 74 124
- Other ninja villages — Initially rivals seeking Yue’s eyes or Konoha’s weakened position; later participants in the Ninja Alliance formed to find the Child of Destiny and oppose Yue. 33 118 159
Parallel-World Intervention
After travelers from a destroyed parallel world arrived, Konoha’s past leadership was held accountable for the conditions that led to Uchiha Yue’s birth. Hiruzen Sarutobi and Shimura Danzō were arrested after Danzō again proposed exterminating the Uchiha Clan. 204 205
The parallel-world response escalated into the executions of Hiruzen, Danzō, Utatane Koharu, and Mitokado Homura. The Uchiha Clan was barred from warfare, isolated out of fear, and Fugaku Uchiha was forcibly prevented from producing an heir. 206
